I think at this point she's not wanting to running away, per say, but that she's been on an extended vacation. She'll "go home" and come back to visit if he isn't angry she left.
But we all know she's going to be a mess when she realizes her father is leaving her there. I think that's the push they need to get onto the next step in their relationship.
