We don't know much so far but all we know is that the CURRENT akira that we know somehow travelled back in time and witnessed his father's death. So he has memories with his father and pictures because all that wasn't imaginary, it actually happened. As I said we really don't know much other than the fact akira somehow time travelled and that even he himself doesn't know about it sorry for bad explanation I didn't exactly get what you meant!
