So This is what I read in the comment section so I can't guarantee the veracity.
The ml was kind on appearance with the friend (deceased), but it was fake. One day, he brings him to a party where rich people gather (in the house in the wood). There is a basement where the rich people drug and rape a person (gangb*ng). It is said that each of them have to bring someone to be accepted in this elite group (not too sure about this through). Well, the novels readers implied that the ML knew what was going to happen to the deceased friend when bringing him there and he did nothing to stop it ( he did not rape him but he is as guilty). That the reasons the friend committed suicide. Later the Ml found the box full of proof of what they did (that why he asked the MC if he has the diary). He burnt it.
At the end, he still go to prison. And that could have been a good psychological story if it ended here. But no. When he goes out of prison, the Mc and him stays together.
That why I dropped it, I can't stand dumb MC. Well it's shown that the mc do not feels anything towards others people (like a apathy I think) so maybe he doesn't care if he date a accomplice of rape, but I don't feel confortable with this.

It's my interpretation of course but I feel like "the ghost" is a parent member of Jaekyung that told him all of this when he was young. I also think this is because of theses traumas he is always angry and didn't stop his matchs besides the risk. Like he thinks he is useless if he doesn't win and prove his worth to others. While this doesn't excuse his behavior at all, it could make the character more deep and make us readers connect a bit more with him even through he is, and will stay forever, a bastard of course...
Hm I think Mc is at fault at 30%. She chooses to date him knowing he had no feeling for her, counting on the "maybe one day". Well ex boyfriend was no honest at all form the start so he is mainly his fault. Still, Mc has some responsibilities in this situation she put herself in. She could have left him before but she disrespect herself thinking "the way he is treating me is okay" when it wasn't.
He is definitly flirting with him righ now !!!

She goes to her grandmother and leave with her after sometime her lady servant also join her. No pavel didn't help her.
After this incident she feels depressed and ask for divorce but he refuse. He also act ignorant about bet thing and eventually it leads her to leave him.
