This made me realize, rather than the readers being so accepting and desensitized by the rape sa manipulation faslighting etc, its mc’s like this accepts it even more and thinks its even normal that influences us readers. Like goddamn that ml was a POS gaslighting rapist but dude i cant even side or defend or pity the mc cos it took a new level if gullible naïveté and a whole lot of mental gymnastics for him to reach that conclusion that everything happened was ok and it was even partly his fault for keeping secrets etc.
