my annual reread of this manga. it's been like. 8 years since I first read this lmao. still one of my favorite BL ever. its so good in all its fucked up glory. the "you didn't love me as a father, and still won't love me as a lover" is INSANE work i love it so much. the kind of shit dreamed up by the mentally deranged. Ike Reibun my GOAT
Honestly, the artstyle change does bother me quite a lot. It gets better going into the side story, but god I miss how expressive and detailed Season 1's artstyle was. As for the story, I think the artist picking up from Season 2 doesn't really "get" the story as well as the one from Season 1. This is a novel adaptation, so there's no writer change or anything like that, but a lot of the emotions written out in the novel doesn't translate as well in Season 2 compared to Season 1
I like this a lot actually. This is pretty classic tragedy as far as story structure and characteristic goes. There are so many points, so many ways that things could have turned better. Both Taekyung and Heeseo could have avoided so many things that made their relationship so messed up, but neither of them would because thats just who they are. Idc if this counts as victim blaming or whatever.
Also the whole whodunnit mystery is a nice plot. The bait and switch about the who and why of it all keep me on the edge of my seat lol. The conclusion of that plot is pretty satisfying too, give a decent (if still messed up lol) reason why Heeseo keep Taekyung confined. Should have seen the twist with the actual murderer coming from miles away, considering Season 1 made it clear those old women are insane too lmao.
glad to know I'm the only one who dislike how Gon and Yonwoo treated Woojoo this whole time. Like I don't think you understand the heckles that the whole thing with deliberately keeping Woojoo in the dark about him already knowing raised in me. Like hello??? Like he know that Woojoo is stressed out about it and deliberately made it worse and for what?????
Also not showing your lover anything about your own family for no reason for 5 years is genuinely red flag behavior.
Like if this whole mess is any indication to how they treated Woojoo for 5 years of course he's going to feel inadequate and insecure like holy shit
they're all so messy i love this so much idgaf. i love that neither of them really knew how to do things halfway and just go full throttle. then again this is like ho-in first serious relationship, and he just happen to fully spiral into a messy ass situationship lmao. also that whole bit with the woojin misunderstanding is the funniest shit i've seen in a while, i can't even blame ho-in for that lol. the last time his boy made him wait while meeting up with another guy. well.
Crying laughing at the whole shaman/medium part. he really read them for filth, i'm living.
Anyway, i hope woojin gets his own full story. maybe set post-college? but then again looking at how many times the author have to take hiatuses over the years i don't think they'll be making anything soon
As frustrating the conversation with the brother is, do remember that the only two people that know Eungyo wants to be with Sunwoo is literally Eungyo himself and his brother. Like, up until pretty much very VERY recently for all of them, the impression they have is that Eungyo doesn't want anything to do with Sunwoo, and Sunwoo himself is pretty aware of that despite his delulu.
So like, I don't think Sunwoo and the people on his camp should be like. Blamed for not getting what Eungyo had been VERY vague about. This is all just circle back to that this particular mess is caused almost entirely by the fact that Eungyo wouldn't just. Be straightforward. Like, the only way that anyone including Sunwoo (even taking his delulu into account) can be sure is if Eungyo himself is the one who say it out loud with no ambiguity.
Yeah it's still as good as I remember it to be. Seen a lot of comments wondering why Taehyuk cut off his brother and I thought it was pretty obvious? Taehyuk regained both his own and his past life's memories, and he said himself that the two parts had pretty much blended together.
Ergo, for large parts of him, all the wrongs that his brother did in the past life feels like. Very recent to him. Maybe once more time passed he will be able to forgive and move on, but at least as of the ending, all the stuff that his brother did in the past life is like, might as well have happened to him like yesterday.
it is weird the way that the author chose to handle the dynamics of especially the main couple when with both Song of Reverberation and The Promise, they've shown they're perfectly capable of making a shady dominant Alpha type seme/gong and cunning type uke/shou dynamic works out REALLY well.
but eh, the whole vibe is funny enough so I'm tuned in
i love an nuo so much. he didn't hesitate over things, figure things out quickly, and decisive when he figured out what he want to do. Jing Ye is so lucky to have picked him up
I just realized that Lin Quan is the same one as the one from Starting With A Lie. Both her brother and cousin are gay lmao.
the title of this thing actually made me laugh so hard im wheezing. "a jobless guy who come to slay" is also how i would describe myself coming to any social function
okay wait can we talk about how Ijin is practically the Numbereds' (and hell, even Mad Dog's) #1 vent place. no wonder he knew all of them so well lol. also. just that silent understanding between him and 002??? yeah i'm going to ao3
