a solution: you can still keep in it in your "I'm reading" category, but, you can click on edit, then uncheck "subscribe this manga".
This way, you won't receive any notification when new chapters are posted so you won't have to follow the weekly updates, however since the story will still be in your "I'm reading" category, you can always find it later and go back to reading it whenever you want.
Mangago now automatically gives on each story's presentation page a note on what was the last chapter you've read, but if you want additional insurance you can also go on the latest chapter and then click on "bookmark".
