Yeah, i get it. The ML buying the FL was the best-case scenario. I understand that fully, but it depends on which genre the manga is. If it's a slice of life and nothing happens and the whole story is about the Fl's recovery then there was no point in buying her. If there's a deeper plot (like a corrupt gov) then it makes sense, since the FL will use her experiences and fight for women's rights.

I find the author's attempt to redeem him laughable but thank god he isn't the ML. She might have been naive but there is no way a soldier of her position is that oblivious and cannot comprehend the concept of corruption. Also, he now possesses a good position and is enjoying his life due to that betrayal so she was just an afterthought. He wanted wealth and to be on the winning side and then he was like "oh yeah, let me brainwahs myself into thinking I'm saving this woman when I actually murder her and keep part of her dead body"...I swear, everyone in this story is garbage

TBH I would have preferred if he had some sort of consequence, outside of being the 2nd ml. Like the brown-haired prince did die in a miserable way, why not Khalid. It doesn't make sense for the MC to forgive Khalid. Since the plot was just thrown out the window. Also from reading the spoilers the story does treat him as more of a 2ml than a villain. In my opinion, I don't agree with Khalid, his intentions are just more twisted. As he wanted to keep the innocence of mc by killing her. Just shows that he's stupid. He simply could've told MC about the corruption of the country and kept her alive. Then after the war fakes her death, so no one would hunt her down. Create a new identity for her. Then let her live her life. Like it's not that hard. Khalid values her image more than her life, and that is sickening.
