Sometimes I wonder if a lot of yall who hate some kinda romance in stories like this is rooted in some type of misogyny, because I've never seen anything like when it's the an OP woman mc.
When it's a woman mc, yall eat up every romance that comes in their way, like the only thing they serve is some kind of romantic relief for yall. But if the mc is a man, it's almost as if yall see women as some kind of a hindrance or something that'll make the man weak.

I would love romance if the fl could hold her own . Most of the times it’s not how that works in these type of stories . More of a damsels in distress. I don’t think it’s rooted in misogyny they just know how that plays out with these type of stories. I prefer no romance at all in any stories in the action category. But oh well.
Its cuz normally when it's a male mc that finds a girl on his journey the author makes them weak and unable to help the mc.where as if it is a female lead the guys normally actually help the story play out.but in this story I like the girls they are quite strong and are able to do things by themselves.
Agree ^ i see what u mean tho but it’s just the numerous stories with females ACTUALLY being hindrances that ruin it for me. I just would rather like to avoid it now. There’s a summoner manga where the female side is like a s-class cook and all and I actually really like that one because she can easily hold their own. Sometimes romance is either taking over the story and the plot like disappears or the female just brings the mc waaaaay too much trouble and it gets annoying. Plus sometimes they make shit decisions lol. Though, generally I don’t like any characters that typically hold the mc down and don’t feel bad about it (being a burden and always relying on the mc instead of doing smth themselves). That’s when the author literally just put them there for like WHAT reason. I wouldn’t say that the characters in here are hindrances rn though i heard some stuff.. ahem anyways i’m just hoping the author doesn’t turn elf-girl and stuff into some weak person who always needs a shield cause it tends to turn like that

in this story specifically many people (including me) wouldn't want romance because art's mental age is like around 50 and these are literal children (and he's mentioned multiple times that he's seen them as children as well so he does not feel any sort of romantic attraction to them) and even if that weren't the case, tessa sort of forced herself on him tht one chapter, which was like ....... rlly uncomfortable so if if there were romance in this story, i'd prefer art to not be mentally older and for the female lead to be kathlyn
but yeah i agree that romance is nearly always forced on a woman mc when it's seen as a hindrance for male mcs, which i personally find annoying since i don't really enjoy romance in general but i prefer to read about female ocs

This is just my personal experience, usually action stories with strong female leads introduce romance in a natural way. They have male leads that are respectful, strong, and have a overall good personality. I dont find tess annoying, but the romance felt very all of a sudden to me. It feels kinda forced and it kinda made tess seem a bit whiny? It just feels like they kinda ruined her character a bit for the sake of romance. Most of the time stories with male mcs just dont have likeable female leads which is why i avoid ones with romance( maybe i just read a lot of trashy stories lol). However yeah some people just outright dont like female love interests.
As other ppl have already said it’s cause in these types of action male mc stories the female characters tend to be written horribly, misogynistic-ly, and one dimensionally and are sometimes even written to be a hinderance on purpose. That’s another reason why I love this story so much and it’s one of my favorites because the female characters are written so well they’re written as actual people with goals and passions like normal women have. So it kind of both is and isn’t misogynistic thing when ppl hate romance in action. Because on one hand people don’t like it bc of how horribly written it’s been in the past but I’m glad stories tend to be leaning this way more and more now as misogyny is slowly becoming out dated. And in the other hand there’s also the case when people just want action and no romance which I get bc sometimes that’s what I want too and in that case it’s not a misogynist thing and more of a “I want to eat up a certain type of content/ genre rn and I just don’t like/ not in the mood for romance(regardless of gender)”
I would love to read a strong female lead action story that has no romance in fact if anyone is reading this and u know any lmk cuz idk any and sometimes I too am not in the mood for romance and I am obsessed with strong female MCs but most stories have romance
Agreed, I am dying for a strong dominant female lead action wuxia, but I don't want romance! I also think it's (mostly) not really sexism that leads to DID situations, but the mc's theme of domination. After all, even in korean fantasies where there are much more themes of collaboration, just who can compare to the mc? No, everyone's always asking for favors and getting their asses saved. That being said, sexism in wuxia really needs to let up a bit lol. (it's much worse)
