Indeed, the king finds Melissa a great candidate but it's been pre-established since the beginning that he's been a vivacious fish in the ocean and doesn't seem to regard the engagement as something other than an obligation [or a chore, whichever] but leaves a stop sign to up there. He doesn't seem like the type to think about his country's welfare and both families' relationships, and more so comes off as a yolo i couldnt be bothered yada yada playboy character.

I think it was a major consent issue, using the argument of it wasnāt on purpose is like saying a man didnāt ignore a woman on purpose when she begged him to stop and raped her anyways.
