People who actually blame mitsuru for the shit that is happening and choose to be angry with him are the reason victim-blaming exists and victims choose to stay quiet and wallow in self pity. Seriously, its 2017 already, stop this shit already.

hold people accountable for their actions and choices done where they're obviously not in the right state of mind to form good decisions then blame them for every bad mistake they make? That is a form of victim blaming. Anyway, where are you coming from then? Are you not blaming Mitsuru (the victim) for his actions, knowing that his ex-bf has manipulated him to do this? Did the exbf had to hold him at gunpoint for you lot to think he is a victim? wasn't the physical (rape) and verbal (he messed with his head) abuse not enough?

In all the comments i have read, no one has said 'it is his fault he was raped' nor do i think it was his fault. It was a horrible thing. No one should ever go through that and in a perfect world it wouldn't happen. In my opinion his ex bf is the an example of the worst kind human but that alone does not whitewash everything he did. 1) He knew his ex was a bastard but he didn't want to let go of his lingering feelings. 2) he stayed with the ex even after he was raped. 3) he started dating someone else when he wasn't over the ex. 4) he had an exit plan but didn't use it. Those are the actions and choices i am holding him accountable for and i think so are most who have similar opinion on Mitsuru.
Also, even mentally ill people know right from wrong (even if they can't control there action). They know when something bad is happening, to them or someone else. This is why even mentally ill people get locked up. On a lesser extent we hold kids accountable for their actions, mistake and choices. Should we hold those people more accountable than those who have a bit of a warp him (those who stay in had situations because they want to believe in a nonexistent good trait in who they are with)? And if we just whitewash what people do just because something tragic has happen to them it perpetuate the problem- them seeing themselves as victim instead of individuals who may have the power and strength to change their situation either by themselves or with the help of others. As a person who have survived many tragic things both in my childhood and adolescent, i can honestly say the worst thing someone can do for me is feel sorry for me and treat me differently than everyone else.
Also, I believe you can hold people accountable without shaming them about their mistakes (all human make mistakes so it is understandable that he did).
it honestly really hurts to read this tbvh
how mitsuru became so self-destructive is just so painful ╥﹏╥ and no excuses for the abuser. he's a piece of shit who should be jailed for physical assault
