The art is so beautiful, but the story itself is so slow. We are so distracted by the side characters, so the ukes feelings are barely make sense since he felt like he’s raped just recently. And there’s almost 0 idea what seme is feeling. Yes, his actions are pretty obvious, but I guess from the character who was known for his orgies and favorites some growing and internal thoughts needed too.

This is where to read them. https://bebebisous33analyses.wordpress.com/2020/07/04/table-of-contents-painter-of-the-night/
Don't worry, this is for free. However, I would recommend that you read the following because I developed my theories there.

I have to say that these were my first analyses.
I hope, you'll enjoy them.
This has to be consensual. I know the whole deal is about the powerful one taking advantage, but the way they used the frames to show that Felix is actually watching his reaction and Isaac is all there with his eyes closed. I really don’t want and don’t think it will be another “An easy target”.
It won’t It won’t!! I saw the raws and according to them the relationship is pretty consensual, also since the beginning Isaac is the one who offered his body as the deal to felix without any pressure
Yeah, idk why the translators put that disclaimer. If it helps, Isaac is really attracted to felix in the novel. He’s afraid of being found out as the omega from 4 years ago but still really attracted to Felix.
Isaac is selling this body to keep his son and his mother safe. He feels like he have no other option. Once a week Felix will sleep with Isaac, and that means Isaac his forced to have sex with him even if he doesn't want to. His body isn't his during that time, it's Felix's to do whatever he want to (see: fuck). So the disclaimer is very much needed. And always remember, that even if you don't agree with the disclaimer, that one warning too much is better than no warning at all!

But he does have other options. They can just leave. San Diego wasn’t the first town they moved to to lie low and disappearing is still a valid option for him. Its an option he actually revisits and admits he should have done before but he didn’t because he was attracted/drawn to Felix.
He made a decision and an offer that gave consent, interpreting it as noncon is a little weird. Its not really an abuse of power dynamics because beyond money Isaac is equal, if not more formidable then Felix.
He does keep them safe with or without felix and HE offered his body on his own, straight on, we can’t judge felix as if he forced him to do this, Isaac could’ve simply stated other terms and Felix would’ve agreed because he LIKES Isaac- and no not in the yaoi trope ‘i like you so i rape u’ .
Just because Felix’s offer is too good to be true and he agreed it doesn’t make him an abuser, also felix neverr said he was going to hunt Isaac, there’s way more to the story that will be clarified soon, I didn’t read the novel but I’ve seen snippets and synopsis on it, believe me it’s good
Isaac’s offer *
As I said, one warning too much is better than none at all. I'm pretty sure the translator had the same thoughts when deciding to put the disclaimer. What I personally think of the story and sex as payment being a plot point I have no interest in discussing. I just wanted to give a possible explanation behind the warning.
Oh yeah no worries, sorry if I sounded too aggressive it’s just that the general trope of the manga in the commEnts was going a bit towards the ‘rape’ and ‘sex as payment’ cliché- while it is true that sex is being used as payment but this manga is just... different.
It’s a pretty great story all I have to say
I dont agree with that because it changes the tone of the chapter. People reading this for the first time are now confused and asking if it was rape. It wasn’t. And thats not up to interpretation. Its not like Dojin continuously forcing himself on Hyesung while in heat or when he was saying no. This was two adults who made an agreement while in sound mind, and yes Isaac offered himself when he easily could have suggested something else.
Also, when you overuse trigger warnings, they begin to lose impact and meaning. If anything, the translator should have warned there was an element of prostitution in the following chapters, but not noncon.
I just wanted to give a possible explanation behind the warning and what the translator maybe thought when using it. Truly, what I think of the trigger warning in this story and the use of it has nothing to do with the answer. If you want to discuss the trigger warning or trigger warnings overall with me, you are free to do so, but please realize that I was trying to explain what I thought maybe the TRANSLATOR thought with my answer. As someone who spenf a year talking about mental health at a hospital, I have a lot to say about the topic of trigger warnings, but a comment section on mangago is not where I would like to talk about tws if you want to know my personal opinion.
Sorry, from your original response you described a situation where Isaac had no agency and was somehow forced to make this agreement, and said the warning was “very much needed”. So it felt like it was your opinion.
I shared why I felt it somewhat tainted the chapter for first time readers but if you’re worried about having such a heavy conversation on mangago thats cool.
Just for context im a survivor of rape with 3 mental health professionals in my family (clinical social worker, psychologist who is head of student health services for a major uni in my state, a therapist, and a sibling that works in data entry for a family clinic for mental health services and another sibling that works as HR for the same company, diff office). And I was also considered pursuing a career in psychiatry (changed majors after I saw the toll therapy took on the social worker, turns out she’s bp1 so it could or could not been related to stress dealing specifically with trafficked children). Just from my family, im well aware that people in the same field can have vastly different opinions. So its cool that you have the experience you do but, it still bottles down to it being an opinion ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
Yeah, I see that now. How the comment could be misunderstood. Sorry about that! I should have read through it before posting.
Of course it is. I even wrote it at the end. It being an opinion. If you wanted to talk about it, and hear my personal opinion. As in, what I think of trigger warnings, and not what I think of others view on it. Because just as you said, vaaaaaastly different opinions. I go on forever about others opinions (because some of them are really ugh). My personal opinion on the subject is my own, and can never be anything else. I don’t know if I’m making myself clear or not, I suck at this. But short: I would never believe my opinion is a fact.
I’m so sorry you had to go through that <3 I have PTSD. Even thinking about using my triggers to discuss my view here on mangago is making me really panicky. But I’m glad you told me about my comment, and if I could I would edit it. And I hope I haven’t made anyone upset.
