it wasn't to please her per se. her mom was otw to accept him because she wants her child to be happy. but kirino didn't want to put her mother through the pain of knowing she wont have a grandchild and also the pain of knowing the fact that she probably felt like she didn't know her child or that she couldn't make her child feel comfortable enough. kirino chose her mother just as her mother chose to understand him at the end.
