He was not ready for another relationship when he accepted Ue's feelings. He could have easily told Ue to wait until he cleared his own feelings of loss and grief and Ue the pure hearted guy would have easily agreed to wait a million years.
BUT Instead he ended up using Ue to heal his heart over Yuki which extremely terrible thing to do to Ue. Even now Ue has to literally write Yuki's song for Mafuyu because he wants to help Mafuyu move forward. He's too nice even through all of this their relationship barely even feels like a couples especially from Mafuyu's side.
When they formed their relationships Ue wanted a romantic one with Mafuyu but it feels like a deeply platonic one. Especially when there are chapters about how Yuki will forever be the person in his heart? Where are the chapters describing Mafuyus romantic feelings like that for Ue??
Their relationship was just timed so wrong and if it was anyone else but Ue it wouldn't have worked out cause he is putting a shitton of work into it.
