thank God, I am not the only one who think that Otani is a bastard, since the beginning (when Risa fell in love with him) till the end, a completely jerk, bastard lover, I hate Otani, he is only good as a friend, and of course as a good clown.

Just goes to show that not every male/female relationship is meant to be romantic. They made a fantastic pair as friends, could even have been lifelong best friends, but their dating dynamic is extremely one sided against Risa. Otani basically just did whatever he wanted (which is okay when single but not gonna fly once they're already dating) without really caring whether or not it would hurt her (I can literally only think of 1 scene where he actually takes her feelings into consideration). But I guess all in all, it's still funny. As long as no one reading this genuinely believes this sort of relationship is healthy in real life, we can enjoy it as a piece of fiction.

you know, you are right, not every relationship are meant to be romantic, there are those meant to have only sex, kill time, fulfil lust, boast to have partner, avoid loneliness for the time begin, etc, etc,........, but this is not the case, Risa wanted a real relationship, she craved for love and romance, but that was never granted, because Otani was a wonderful friend and never a true boyfriend. Although, this piece of fiction was fun to read, because this one sided love of Risa was mixed with funny and cute scenes made for their friends, I can never say: match made in heaven, amazing couple lover, cute couple, etc, etc........, even if it is ficcional I can't say, is right when something is wrong. Don't you think this manga gives a dreadful messages to the society of teenagers? I mean, I can say, there is something weird and wrong with this story. In the end, don't you think Risa is only a weak girl, with lack of self-steem,self-respect and she doesn't know his own worth?, Risa is cute, a good and kind girl. Sadly she doesn't have the will to see around to her much better guys than that bastard, selfish, jerk Otani. He never respected her feelings and neither loved her. So the most cruel part of this story was to know that Otani was a very, very good boyfriend to his ex. Then, the main question is how deal with one sided love and even a rejection, with self-respect, honor and pride?, not in the shameless e improper way as Risa did!, She endured, take all kind of mistreatment only to fulfill the necessity to be reciprocated her feelings, so lame! why?! is really sad. In real life this kind of girl are in treatment psychological. Althought, is a ficcional story I can't help to think the impact of the negative message to the young people. It would have been a great story if they remain like friends forever.

I completely understand and agree with what you're saying. That's the reason why we even bother to discuss manga like this after all; there's no telling what sort of impact these stories have on the impressionable adolescents reading them. It's sad not only because we see a good character subject herself to pointless misery over and over again, but also because lots of girls do the same thing in real life. So I do agree that it's difficult to see it as a work of fiction that won't impact anyone else.

I probably would have hated this manga if the characters weren't so likeable. Otani was a dick as a romantic interest, but he was still a great guy (reminds me of a ton of my male friends actually lol) and so the only thing I can do is enjoy the story and hope no one looks at this as #relationshipgoals or something equally stupid. But I'm totally on the friends forever train. But then I guess it wouldn't have been shoujo anymore -_-. This is why I prefer shounen lol
