The reason Ao Ao has to go through such harsh things is because of his father. Because when Ao Ao was born his mother died, so the father hate him and send him far away. I mean he didn't mean to kill his mother. Poor Ao Ao.

The novel is quite tragedy. The emperor is obsessed with the general and humiliate him in public, rape him, torture him. I feel sad towards the general. I guess we won't see them in the manga cause this is not yaoi.
