I thought it was the novel I was reading. The MCs both have the same name, Kim Su Hyun and they both have the same story plot but not the same events. In the novel, the MC wasn't close to any particular girl, instead he even killed the girl that was clingy to him when he found out that she was the traitor. The MC distanced himself with the others as he was afraid of being betrayed and kept a good distance with those he considered friends.

The Chairman is truly the #1 fan and supporter of Jinwoo Even when he was dying he was so happy and proud of him. I cried tons whenever they would reminisce about him and his goodness. That scene was one of the most repeated scenes played on national tv(in the novel) as one of his most memorable moments or famous quotations.
