Yes I wholeheartedly agree but, Rosemud doesn't need to become Empress to punish her rapist. She could easily kill him and his mother, why dose she need to ruin our Empress' and her family's life. Why did she try to start a war? Why did she try to feed pork to people who's god is a pig? Her backstory doesn't excuses her wrongdoings.
If you want to know her reasoning why she's so obsessed to become an empress is because she feels helpless without a title like she thinks title is everything in this world. She thinks that everyone belittles and got herself r*ped because she has no status more than an illegitimate child that's why she do everything to become an Empress so that no one could hurt or belittle her anymore (based on the novel)
But, I agree that her background doesn't excuse her wrongdoings
