I read the manga and watched the anime back to back just to see if i missed anything and tbh the villain in this story are the adults!!!



There were clear signs of bullying (teachers not doing anything), abuse (marina getting a nasty scar from home) and neglect (i dont want to blame junya on this bcs 1 he’s a kid too but at the same time it took so long for him to reach out to naoki ;;

Shizuka isnt a sociopath, she isnt a narcissist, and i need people to stop giving her labels to justify why and how she react to things!! she’s a kid who’s suffering from all the abuse and is reacting based on how she was treated. Shizuka was desperate to bring back chappy bcs in her world- chappy was the only thing that mattered. She’s a kind person in nature but goddamn everything is just so stacked against her that it broke her and made her kidnap her half siblings. Mind you- she didn’t even do anything to harm them, just desperation to get back what was hers.

Marina had done terrible things, yes I’m not denying that- but she also acted that way because that’s what was being done to her by her mother. That violence can be the means to a solution or an outlet to let out their frustrations. It’s unfortunate that she suffered so much domestic violence which lead her to having a twisted outlet.

Ik that both marina and shizuka’s abuse is more evident (physically) but holy hell the psychological abuse that Azuma endured is also tragic. I personally relate to his struggles the most- being compared to your own family member and never being enough is a type of pain that seems insignificant in an outsider’s perspective but it leaves such a nasty scar mentally that’s hard to get rid of.

All of the adults have failed these children (I want to include Junya as well but in his case he managed to realize how messed up his family situation is and at least got a hold of something for himself). All of them struggled in their own way- trying to survive on what little they have and reacted to their environment :((( what all of them really need is therapy and lots of it. Those adults need to be reprimanded but ofc ik that that’s hard to happen :((
