I know it’s hard not to feel upset about what Seunghoe’s doing to Nakyum (I did hold off from reading this so it won’t affect my work for the day, I’m equally guilty of getting carried away because of what I read), but just keep in mind that this is fiction. At this particular time period, “noblemen” treating commoners and slaves like this are sadly quite common, so you can say that this story is as close to reality. I don’t think Byeonduck will end the story on a sour note, or let Nakyum be totally traumatized, Evangelion-style. I’d like to think that Nakyum is stronger than we realize and he will be able to fight back, or at the very least make his feelings come across effectively.

Instead of getting frustrated over this, I’d much rather think that this is Byeonduck’s way of pushing our (and also Nakyum’s) buttons, testing our limits and resolve on how much suffering we can endure before we get to the happy ending.

Third this. Considering Seungho's high status, a lot of noblemen and noblewomen have done much much worse to real humans in history. Seungho was brought up thinking that servants are less of human in comparison. Technically for him to feel something for Nakyum is already a step forward. He'll have to 'break the rules' of that time period to trule love Nakyum. It's a slowww mental struggle, but we'll get there!
You nailed it. I guess there are a lot of younger readers here and get too carried away because Seunghoe is an asshole (which of course he is). But life isn’t that easy. The setting of the story is a society that is built on rigid customs and class system. It’s so hard to do something out of the norm and risk losing your status, reputation and money for the sake of someone, especially for a lowborn. A lowborn will not be able to fight back a noble as easily either, it’s an automatic death sentence. And what will happen if he rans away? He’ll end up in the wilderness and die of starvation and or cold, whichever comes first. If he runs off to his noonas they’ll be persecuted too.

Nakyum is in a tough spot, but I would like to think that it won’t be for too long. It’s not just Seunghoe’s character development that we should look out for, but also Nakyum’s. If Seunghoe’s finding it hard to change, Nakyum should be able to do it, and show Seunghoe that he has the balls to say no and demand that he respects Nakyum as a person.
Younger reader tends to view things black and white, when older reader like myself sees the other colors in between. Like you said Nakyum is in a really tough spot, there is no winning for him if he leaves Seungho at the moment. Everyone in town now knows the rumor that he is sleeping around, so town folks will treat him like crap even if he leaves. Let's say he leaves, what next? Realistically, Nakyum will end up as a prostitute..ppl will line up to *** him cuz they are curious of a discarded noblemans property, and prob live a diseased life before dying young.
I think Nakyum is smarter than he seems. He jst said No to Seungho in this latest chapter. But he has to pick him words wisely and time it correctly to get the full impact. He recognizes Seungho's instability, one wrong move, like you said, off with his head.
This noona interference might be not as helpful to Nakyum as we think she might be. She is still of low status, no power, might make Seungho even more angry. And it's been like not even a week since the kidnapping, right? Takes time for all parties to process. Seungho is angry because he is scared to loose Nakyum. At the same if Nakyum profess his love now, Seungho wouldnt belive him either. They need time right now...now that I think again...the story is actually moving along jst fine.
