Before this bitch starts her plan, wayyy wayy back this man (I think he was the brother or cousin to the queen or princess idk) fell in love with Lucia at first sight and tried to flirt with her, obv hubs had to interfere and he was shocked that Lucia was married to the duke. So the bitch teams up with the lovesick fool to get revenge. It's been a while since I've read the novel but I think their plan was to lure Lucia into a room and that's when they drug her or something. A few maids died in the process and Roy (the redhead who was trying to protect Lucia at the time) got the blame so he was about to be executed for murder but Lucia and Hugo were able to make a plan for him to escape the execution. Anyways both the bitch and the lovesick fool were caught and they were both killed. I think the lovesick fool got killed in the process of the plan tho.
