It’s so drastically different from the brother’s plot who is law abiding and not a rapist. In BL usually things like rape is glossed over and it’s easier to suspend your belief, but if you’re going to give your character real trauma from something terrible it’s very hard for readers to root for the person who did it to them, and the romance falls apart
yes exactly!! so many rape scenes are flat out unnecessary that it's easy to forget it even happened bc there are usually no long term consequences. authors assume we'll always forgive and forget with a good chase arc. but when a character is literally traumatized and developes a phobia directly due to rape then how do you expect us to move on from that??
Comments were saying that it seemed like the seme didn’t even consider it rape from the raws they looked at, which is even worse. Their previous sexual encounters were very sensual and the rape was very obviously different from that.
