Basically, MC og mom grape the dad. This led him to hate her too and it intensified after seeing the duchess reaction. He thought the duchess is uncomfortable cuz of mc and the duchess thought he's just really mean to her. Which led her reconsider a divorce cuz of how he acts towards mc.
