That is not how they describe it in the late chapter. .the guy has this lucky thing to the higher degree than the others, that is why they send the god of calmity (god of misfortune) to balance it. .
im pretty sure this new god has the ability to control luck in general, so he can make the guy unlucky too
I have a feeling it's a test. Like would you rather always have the god of fortune beside you and have good luck, or would you rather have the god of calamity with you as your friend (lover). It could be that he also has a generalized sense of power (misfortune/fortune)
