The usual troupe which these type of stories have is that the ML ends up somehow seeing that ‘past timeline’ usually in their dreams, because a lot of authors LOVE to use that plot to slowly unravel the misunderstanding and allow the ML to understand why the MC acted the way they did. Otherwise, how would the MC’s trauma get healed when only they know what caused it. Should they just pretend it never happened and just continue their life? (Some stories do end like that but it leaves loose ends). So yeah, that’s mainly what people are insinuating when they say ‘remember the past’.
