But it would really help a lot if you used a proofreader. I can sort of tell what some things are supposed to be, but it's still hard to make sense of other parts. I don't want to sound ungrateful, but right now I think most of us just don't really understand the story.

I know the situation in the novel is different now, but this beginning still makes me sad. Would really recommend the novel! Might not be the most interesting BL/danmei gaming novel but it's the only one that actually made me cry and once the angst ends you fall in LOVE with the two main characters. Especially the gong/seme/top/our dear slag man Yu, since he's not your usual aloof gong, he has an actual personality.

Or novels with gongs that have a personality that's different from just aloof and amazingly strong? Now that's a lot harder (￣∇￣") I actually can't immediately think of one. 'Saye' has amazing characters, but they switch so it doesn't even have the gong/shou dynamic.... Honestly, if you want the gong to be as developped/more developped than the shou personality-wise, you can filter on 'seme protagonist' on Novelupdates, since there they are the mc so they are written a bit better most of the time.
School life novels also often have better balanced relationships. It's mostly in entertainment novels/gaming novels/apocalypse/scifi danmei where the gongs are not that well balanced because the main focus there is on the shou and how he can survive/face slap in these circumstances and romance is second.
Honestly, I would just recommend you to go to Novelupdates and sort by 'yaoi' or 'shounen ai' and then by last updated and try the first chapters of any descriptions that speak to you. You might find some hidden gems that way! I try to do it every few months and I've been reading Chinese BL novels for a few years and for me this is the best way to find new stuff :)
And if you want to find a BL that can make you cry, I recommend Seizing Dreams. I only read half of the story because I somehow didn't want it to be finished, but it made me really sad in the same way the first chapters of this story made me sad. And it made me go 'wow' in the same way Saye does.
