I know the author was making a point of “defying fate” so it shouldn’t matter if the string of faith ever connects, but...? It was still unsatisfying. Maybe if instead of just saying he’s going to cut the string, he’d actually done it before the finale??? More actions than words to REALLY drive the point home....
