I think it’s pretty clear the dad learned from his mistake with the prince by using these real, more beneficial proposals to push Julian forward to propose and be someone worthy of his daughter.

I'm kinda upset with the anime.. It's not the same with the manga in some chapters.. like for example the episode where the swordsmith - Bardel was introduced..he handshakes people to measure their strength.. it was not shown in the anime.. I was especially looking forward for that to be shown in the anime cause it highlights Beryl's strength and he was compared to a Leviathan.. I was kinda bummed it was not shown
I have not seen the anime, but the part with the handshakes is missing form the light novel too. I was really sad when i read the novel and couldn't find it there. Maybe the anime is closer to the novel rather to the manga.
