I had a similar stalker problem (except I knew him for only 3 years and he didnt try to have sex with me). It's not as nice as they make it out to be in the story. In fact, I was scared of being alone in public because that was when he always approached me. Eventually, I just told him off (actually I told him off 4 times because he was very stubborn (╯°Д °)╯╧╧) but I might have a biased opinion on the story due to that. Personally, I think she might also have a bit of a twisted mind if she ends up falling in love with him. But unless they are both twisted and in love I have a hard time imagining their relationship working out.
