I think author chan got bored with the story itself and wanted to wrap it up to work on the new project. Probably called the boss to stay she's dropping the story and got yelled at by boss and told to finish it off in one go or else get fired.

Thinking he's all that and can have anything he wants whenever he wants! Agreed. I mean, I can understand author's intention to setting up the stage or situation to be much worse for development and so when the time comes for the climax/confession, it will be probably be in a form of a grand gesture of some sort so things will be much explosive or of a greater effect because honestly, resolving things like here in a dinner date is kinda lame. Now this is my speculation for the series but by the amount of people frustrated here it looks like it might be working haha.
It would help if they looked a little different other than hue of skin so that you can actually tell them apart!
