I actually like how the author isn’t making this an easy battle for Lamudan and Wolsey. If this was just another generic bl, it would’ve ended with Wolsey going fuck u dad, i love lamudan he is my wife and then the father would be like, okay im sorry son i was mistaken.. i loved ur mom and sad backstory explanation yada yada and they spend the rest of their days tango-ing for ever after. But by setting off into this journey of becoming Wolsey’s equal, Lamudan isn’t just put into the role of being the wife of Wolsey. And honestly, I like how they flesh out all the characters. It certainly feels better than the usual one dimensional rivals we get in this genre. Pain is suffering and suffering is living. If falling in love with Awra is pain, so be it cause that’s life. He’s a nice man.

I decided to read this again from the very beginning. While at first I was thinking damn Lamudan does have a right to be running away cause Wolsey is plotting? He’s been plotting, but then halfway through we get this formula where the author spends an entire volume reconciling Lamudan and Wolsey’s relationship only to abruptly cuck the reader by crashing all that down in one fell chapter. Lamudan is always running away and getting tempted by bullshit under the guise of wanting to know or aide Wolsey on a deeper level. I get it, he’s been thrust into all this nobility and political bullshit, I’d be as confused as him and wouldn’t know whether these people fucking around with me are people I can trust. But why is it that every time without fail, Lamudan always lets his temptations get the better of him
WHY THE FUCK. THIS IS HOW YOU TURN A WHAT WAS ORIGINALLY A RELATABLE AND SYMPATHETIC CHARACTER INTO AN ANNOYING SHIT? Like Lamudan is literally a fucking mary sue at this point. One of those shoujo female protagonist characters that are annoying as fuck cause they can’t decide anything, but for some reason the author wants us to believe that every character that meets them is just magnetically pulled in and attracted by their kindness, or in this case his looks added onto the list of charming qualities he possesses *sparkly eyes*.
