This was actually a good read, a good buildup actually. It’s a long story of forbidden romance. It’s not just your usual slap of the stick incest. Only in imagination and stories.
So, now that is out of the way, I was perplexed at first but since I’ve binged on yaoi and other kind of fucked up stories since young, I am therefore desensitized over this matter. But it doesn’t mean I normalize it!
Now, the story’s pacing is actually good, and it’s super long for one whole chapter! It’s like I was reading one volume slapped into one chapter. We were introduced to Joutaro’s forbidden feelings for his grandpa, of course, it is morally wrong, his grandpa denied his advances, his friends also tried to stop in but alas when they discover a few things and open their minds, they’ve slowly accepted of his feelings as any other person who crushes on somebody and also their sexual desires.
After that, we move on to the grandpa being in denial, stopping his grandson’s advances but as soon as his guard was let down, Joutarou’s feelings strike in and it stirred him up, completely misguiding his moral compass. But since he’s an adult and his grandson is still a minor, the sexual advances were halted.
We then see that the grandpa has almost succumb to the desire and allure of his grandson, his feelings, his compassion, his kindness and his lustful motives. Little by little, Joutarou successfully tears off the brick wall between him and Joseph.
There is a but! However, incest is wrong, indecent, and morally unjust. It shouldn’t be allowed or encouraged. Which leads to Joseph saying that they should not do this, if they advance further with their forbidden relationship, they will be shunned, not just by the society, but by their own family. Gay and incest, two things that are considered taboo. Jotarou is not one to back down, and he is not one to dismiss his feelings, even if it is seen wrong from the others’ perspective,
Finally, the romance is in full circle when the grandpa wholeheartedly accepted his confession and lose himself in the youth of sexual desires. The youth of romance and lust awoke his soul, fluttered his heart, he soon came to love his grandson as not just familial love, but romantic and sexual love.
