In Korea in general, it's hard to turn down someone's offer of going out, getting drinks, or anything social, especially if they're your senior. I'm assuming you say he has "no backbone" because he was forced to go on those missions before? Well, that's just the world of RPGs! Thing is, that will never happen in stories like these. There will always be stronger opponents that give problems. Otherwise the conflict would be gone and the entire manga would basically be over. Also, yea...he's way too naive. You can't expect someone that was brought up in nobilities culture to suddenly change and be more like a commoner. Sure Xia is much nicer than most nobles, but she's still a noble in the end. I'm actually surprised HE is surprised that the North Guardian Lord's house is pulling their weight around to go against him. Of course they'd do that. >_>
