i can think of two possible endings:
1) the reason hideto hasnt passed on is because his unfinished business is that he never properly got to be friends with yuugen. so after he helps yuugen gain a will to live, and make friends with his classmates, he will pass on.
2) yuugen ends up dying from something and passes on together with hideto in "enternal love" or something
