They're nice, and I did enjoy it(for the most part). But as a warning to the future readers it can get a little rapey...

Damnit. Why is rape or dubious consent almost always a factor of yaoi. It's really not a good look and has ruined a lot of characters for me by making Seme's forceful and inconsiderate. I don't understand why authors would right about a loving couple but then portray a partner being totally inconsiderate during sex and not addressing it like nothing wrong was done. I really hope it's not like that for wangxian, but knowing yaoi, it probably is.

It's not that. Wuxian has a rape kink that's why it gets "rapey".

Wei Wuxian has a rape kink and Lan WangJi caters to it. There is no non-con between WangXian.

Can promise that there is no actual rape in these chapters. Wei Wuxian has a rape kink so they do lots of role plays, everything that happens between them is completely consensual.

About rapey scenes in BL, I got a speculation.. I think it's because of the Japanese market demand for it.

I observe several known BL mangaka, especially ones who wrote mangas that are adapted into anime or live action.

Unfortunately.. their popular works tend to be the ones with rapey scenes.

The mangakas are very capable in writing and publishing stories with kind seme, non toxic relationship. But those BL mangas are not as popular as the ones with rapey scenes.

I haven't observe enough to form any speculation for BL manhua (China) or manhwa (Korea).

I guess. Until recently I didn't really think about it until I was reading Hidoku Shinaide and characters were being cute and then all of a sudden my mind just went 'rape. It was rape.' After that I couldn't read any yaoi or bl without noticing the subtle and not so subtle use of rape molestation as a story plot. I totally understand if it's a short story that isn't meant to be long or deap but if it is a long story with what is supposed to be romance, my brain just goes 'Rape. No. Why?' And the story becomes a bit ruined for me.
Since I first posted under this comment, I've finished reading the novel of GDC and while the scene mentioned was only fantasy of which both parties mentally consented to, I couldn't help but cringe the first time they had penetrate sex and Lan Zhan 'lost control' and just pushed his thing into Wei Ying even after he ask for him to stop a bit. He didn't listen to Wei's doubts. Which almost ruined it for me. I had to force myself to ignore it so that a work I really loved wasn't ruined by momentary lapse in judgment.
