I bet that’s not really what he meant and the demon is manipulating facts. It looked like the guy was in love with MC. He could have requested to actually free MC from the prince, and the demon either took a liking to MC or needed an heir. It’s possible too that it’s all a revenge, but I don’t think it’s all there is to it.
