i thought yona would have this incredible arc when she returned to the castle where she would finally be this powerful character who doesn’t bend to soowon wishes and creates a path for her own self. i understand she’s just 16 y/o, but the more i read the more it feels like all those chapters of character devt just went to waste once she went back to hiryuu castle. she’s practically doing nothing, doesn’t want to talk to hak or the dragons, and she’s also pitying soowon bc of his illness? like? girl what the actual fck????? have you forgotten he killed your father??? and also tried to kill you??? it feels like even after everything that happened, she’s still that same old naive powerless girl who can do nothing and has to ask permission from someone higher up to do her biddings. it’s so frustrating what the fck is this i feel like i wasted my time reading up to ch 191 just to be presented with this bs.
what did they even go thru all those wars for just for yona to return back to her old meek powerless self who just stands by and does nothing while her dragons are being used by the forces of the man who killed her father. like really??? you’re just gonna stand there and watch the spectacle go on??? you’re just gonna allow yourself to be used??? and then afterwards you won’t even talk to the dragons or to hak? the one man you love? hello??????? god... i need a better mc.

I don’t see yona as powerless at all. She held herself well and even shocked both general joo doh and the advisor by how she handled the emissaries. She understands now why soo won did what he did and she also understands the progresses he has made for the betterment of kouka kingdom. She has stated that she won’t forgive him but she’s not allowing her hatred to cause the downfall of kouka kingdom. She’s an amazing and selfless princess who has faced many hardships. And she’s not naive in anyway. She has called out soo won, general joo doh, and the advisor for all that they’ve done. I think she’s the complete opposite of powerless and naive.
And she’s refusing to talk to the dragons and Hak for their own safety which was the point in them going to the castle in the first place. She’s not throwing any of her ideals away. Her priority is the citizens of kouka kingdom and the men who have always stood by her side no matter the obstacle.

read it again. i said i stopped reading after ch 191. the situation you mentioned hasn’t even happened there yet. i was referring to the incident of them introducing the dragons’ power to everyone in the castle, potentially endangering the dragons. good thing kija and jaeha thought of a plan during that whole spectacle so that the blue and yellow dragons’ powers won’t be revealed easily to everyone in the castle. for me, yona could’ve objected to that spectacle and just demanded them to introduce the dragons in a simple way instead of having them reveal their powers. yona sounds pretty powerless to me in that situation.
rather, my point is, with all the previous buildup (100+ chapters) to make her who she is rn, i expected something MORE from her once she goes back to hiryuu castle and faces the man who killed her father. yet here she is, practically letting them do whatever they want with her, not even objecting constantly when they told her to sit beside soowon in front of the public. i hate that she’s just allowing herself to be used like that. it’s just really disappointing but i’ll try to keep reading since i wanna see soowon dead.
she still looks gorgeous even w the altered clothes. lucia fashionista confirmed
