katsumi rejected maki's feelings and he saw the action hurted maki. even though he liked maki in the first place, and he carried the guilt with him. hurting the person he like. when katsumi was assaulted the first time, he felt like he deserved to be done that way. and as time went on it became his coping mechanism. sure, its "stupid" to some people but it made sense to katsumi.
maki saw katsumi in the act by chance and offered that instead katsumi taking different people, katsumi should just stick to him. if you properly read, katsumi only reach out to maki sometimes in every two weeks.
katsumi was then assaulted once again. this time he didnt want to cope that way anymore. he thought he didnt deserve to be done that way anymore. he didnt want it anymore. this is where he has progressively healed. rather than,"ah i deserve to be done this way." he thought "i dont want this."
the way katsumi was coping was self-harming him. even if it was sexual. he has bruises all over his body with the rough sex he was asking people to have with him. it was his way of punishing himself. his way of coping to stay alive. he was gloomy. but with maki who treated him gently, he started to even faintly smile. and finally maki told katsumi that he can finally let go of the guilt, maybe the guilt that you felt was stupid but definitely not for katsumi.
still katsumi probably should seek professional medical help but this is just a comic anyway. but #katsumidefender.

i agree, it was pretty straightforward. just because we, as individuals, didn't agree with his way of thinking/coping, doesn't mean we can speak for him. I'm glad he was able to reunite with Maki and finally have some acceptance and forgiveness for himself. i, too, am a #katsumidefender
