I will miss cutieful baby Jaekyung from the flashbacks. I truly applaud for Mingwa’s artistic prowess at making Jaekyung look like his age especially when he was a late teen. It’s like you can see the current Jaekyung in his features but with some cherubic features that displays how young he still is even while competing.
personally im SO happy we got all these flashback chapters. i see jaekyung’s character in such a different light now like this definitely saved the story for me. i know his backstory doesn’t excuse any of his actions towards Dan but i’m happy we at least now know WHY he did any of that to begin with. im gonna reread all the previous chapters now because my perspective has totally changed. whenever i see Jaekyung now i can’t help but see his younger struggling self behind those eyes

Thos who are being negative on every update are the ones who are overly excited waiting for 10 days, just so they can whine about "Jaekyung" the fictional character . I'm kinda confused on why Dan should be that ray of sunshine to Jaekyung tbh?? have they spent time together? yes. have they slept together? yes.
But for me I don't get why Jaekyung would fall for him since Dan is not that different from all the people apparently he has slept with, except for him working with Jae's team. Have they trauma bonded? lol I don't think he in particular had the opportunity to "like" Dan in that way. Dan on another note, was your typical bottom falling for his abuser (but hey!! not anymore right?)
I won't criticize Mingwa necessarily for presenting characters like these (bc most people digs this type of stories i guess) but I still think the story is kinda meh, I was genuinely hoping to see something more interesting but it all feels cliché and forced. YOU CAN DISAGREE but these are my thoughts so far

on another note, i totally understand why JJK didn't question the solution for his Jinx that worked and just went ahead with it, quite a few factors actually, his anxiety of loosing 5 matches in a row up until that point, the blow to his seemingly rising career, his drive to prove himself. and ofc the horrific fact that he feels his dad suffocating him. that's PTSD man.
Dude got a quick fix and didn't question it just rolled w it, made sure to keep his mental health in pristine condition before matches

Seriously, who is forcing yall to read it if you don’t like nothing about this story? Sometimes you have to shut your brain off to enjoy things like this- I have read much worse stories than jinx, and I’ll be honest, the most popular manhwas in this app have much redder flag tops than jjk :/ them bitches ain’t real so please I’d love to read more discourse about the actual chapter and characters than the same old song being told 1000x in them comments!
Grandpa actually have him such a good advice. Basing your entire notion of happiness on winning could make a person crumble at the slight change of that status. He needs something more substantial, more meaningful. But I get it, this sport was the only thing holding him together bc pretty much anything else was in shambles
I find it crazy how theres so much hate on this chapter. Honestly the flashback chapters do such a great job and showing the effects childhood trauma has on adulthood. Jk undoubtably has ptsd, probably even complex ptsd because of how severe his childhood situation was. This man HAS NEVER experienced love before. The life he has created for himself including the jinx is a direct result of his understanding of reality based on his traumas. It’s kind of like the allegory of the cave, you don’t know how fucked up your situation is until someone actively shows you it’s fucked up. I know some people are saying that “all of this could be solved if he went to therapy” or “ is this really why it’s called jinx” but ppl with ptsd and other trauma related mental conditions are usually not the most self-aware. Especially if they don’t have the resources to tackle their problems, even more so if they don’t know what their problems are. Of course I’m not excusing Jks behavior at all, but those who are aware about trauma and abuse, know that it’s a cycle. If you were abused, you are much more likely to inflict abuse. It’s still wrong, but it’s easy to write someone off as good or bad without understanding their complete story. Which I believe these chapters give us. And I’m honestly really excited to see how the story progresses, because jk is gonna have a lot of trouble and confusion navigating such an intense emotion like love. Ik BLs usually follow the ‘sad backstory to why a character is fucked up’ trope but I’m hoping the author uses this narrative to fuel a Taejoo level redemption arc.
