I thought it was Ivan who made the mark and Alek is the one who could stabilize the effects or something (coz he's also a snake with stable "thing" i dunno the doctor mentioned it) and Ivan's "thing" is unstable that makes it hard for hen and him (on the first parts of the series) to have sex w/o affecting hen's health.
I dunno if what I said makes sense lol. But from the first chapters its explicitly shown that hen and ivan had sex and ivan marked him.

It was not shown that he ACTUALLY bit him, theyre just together on bed! Now im moreee confused. （/TДT)/ And it really seems like he just used hen on the beginning to get revenge on ivan or somethng.
That was something I took note of the first time i read this hahaha the bite was not shown nor do either of han or ivan remember what exactly happened that night

Literally after rereading ch 1 and his thoughts on ch 79, i got the feeling he set it all up and could have been the one who really bit hen to take it against ivan or something.
