Like in this case, they could have literally had a verbal argument with a few harsh words and the story wouldn’t have changed a bit. That scene completely ruined the story for me, it was SO. UNNECESSARY.
They just have really shitty writing skills so they add in rape to either bring the characters closer together or create conflict
