Waiting for Americans realize the entire world doesn't revolve around their ethical standards and understanding of race. The sheer arrogance. Lol

The drawing IS a racist caricature of a black man. The author not being American doesn't change that. Like you do realize that racism exists outside of America? And it especially exists in Japan where a lot of their beauty standards are colourist and racist? It may have been drawn out of pure ignorance and with no malicious intent, but it doesn't change the fact that, like I said, the drawing is a racist caricature of a black man.

The fact that it's a cartoonish drawing of a black person does not make it inherently racist or a caricature even and if you understand there was no malicious intent on author's part how can you cry racism? When there's no other basis of discrimination being done in the manga. It was seemingly a wholesome scene where the black person portrayed as a family man invited the mc to a family dinner. How do you derive racism from just that? Just bcs you don't find a passing character drawn pretty to fit your romanticised view of what a black person is supposed to look like?

oh ur just genuinely stupid that’s unfortunate! anyways im black unlike u who can’t admit when something is insensitive and/or racist ! u don’t give a fuck abt black ppl clearly but hey thats a u problem ! free palestine and since u care so much spread awareness for congolese ppl who are current victims of genocide

1. A caricature is just an exaggeration. A caricature is not inherently racist. A caricature becomes racist when it's exaggerating features that are tied to a persons race, usually to mock individuals of that ethnicity (as an example, black face is a racist caricature because it exaggerates the skin tone, lips and usually eyes of a black person to mock them). In this instance I'd say it's mostly the lips that makes it a racist caricature.
2. Racism caused by ignorance is still racism. The author not doing it with malicious intent just means that they probably weren't aware that what they draw is racist. Usually caused by the environment they grew up in. Which is also a problem. Educating people on why something is racist prevents these behaviours from being perpetuated further.
3. I haven't read the manga LMAO I just checked out the panel after seeing the comments, so I can't speak on there being any other racism in the story.
4. The dialogue of the scene has nothing to do with whether or not the art/design of the character is racist. Plenty of black characters are drawn poorly but written perfectly fine (I haven't watched One Piece so I could be wrong, but from what I've seen Usopp is a good example of this.)
5. Whether or not I find a character attractive is irrelevant. You can draw an ugly black character without it being racist.
I'll be fr rn, the drawing in this manga isn't the worst drawing of a black person I've ever seen, BUT that doesn't make it good. You can also acknowledge something has flaws while still enjoying it. No one is saying the entire manga is garbage because of 2 panels of a poorly drawn black man.

A caricature is an exaggeration of a person's features in order to make a MOCKERY of them. How can you say that the author made a caricature of a black person if there is literally no making fun of/ or even any remarks made on the said features.
That to said, it's a very stupid looking drawing of a black person. I'll give you that. But it is not made for making fun of a black person's features. Just bcs something looks ugly or bad that doesn't make it personally vindictive to a racial community. FFS.
Black people are not untouchable or infallible. Stop putting them on a pedestal. They are people just like us and can look good and bad. It's simple as that.

If Japanese ppl don’t understand race in a FIRST world country in the 21st century their system is failing them. We live in the world where there is so much cultural exchange that they would know a black person would look just as I know how a japanese person would look. I have never met a Japanese person but I would know how they look cause I’m not an uneducated bigot like you!! Maybe you should open your eyes and try not to coddle/baby people who do shit like this. You’re doing nothing but contributing to a problem, so please think of yourself as a problem!! Don’t think of yourself as a person with a high iq commenting this bullshit cause I can tell you right now you seem mentally disabled….

For someone who cares so much about race you sure have no problem with being an ableist when it serves your agenda. I didn't coddle the author. I didn't portray myself as high IQ as you put it. I at least don't have to resort to name calling or putting a other group of people down to show myself as the superior one. I simply don't fucking care whether I'm right or wrong. I stand by what I said. Y'all are straight up throwing a tantrum bcs a filler character isn't looking like a Nubian prince of your wet dreams. Calling me mentally disabled or whatever means nothing lol

I hate the art style and the plot is fucking nonsensical but I still have it a shot bcs how much everyone was saying it gets better. Bruh I can't fucking stand the "I will save you " mindset so fucking much. Does she think she is god? What in the fucking telenovela is this

Also I don't know what you think my preference is but it sure isn't as easy to find as you make it but I digress. Most people on this site need to familiarise with the concept of "agree to disagree" bcs saying all those negative things makes me feel better bcs it was super infuriating to read and I do believe I'm free to do whatever I please and in this instance it was to share my opinion on a website built for exactly that. Get rekt if you don't like what I said. :3

Not bcs it's bad plot wise but it's bad for my heart. I'm afraid she is just using her admiration for Tatsuo to rebound from Kouya. While things are progressing slowly between Tatsuo and Asahi I feel like things are not even affection wise. Tatsuo just like his work he is serious about this but Asahi wants success being the driven perfectionist woman she is. Kouya was a failure but emotionally they complimented eachother even if they had external problems that ultimately blew up their relationship. They felt like they truly loved in the naive passionate sense and will either be endgame or eachother's toxic ex they can't forget but can't live without.
Meeting him was the greatest thing in his life. Like he'd know like I'm fine with age-gap couples but this couple has been unnatural from the get-go. The seme is boring with nothing but sex for personality and the uke is literally a child.
I love them, okay? They're amazing couple, I even forgot about main couple since they came out... but I can't agree with you more...( ̄∇ ̄") he's barely 19... while seme is....
oh for sure. They are more substantial as a story than the first couple. the first couple felt like a ridiculous porno which is why i don't have problem with 1st Uke blowing Sol during sex bcs it just didn't feel like a serious romance. like if that happened to this couple, oh, i'd be livid.
