Louis not thinking Maetel’s feelings are genuine doesn’t feel believable in this story. Like in other stories, it feels believable when one love interest seemingly likes someone else. But in this story I’m getting increasingly frustrated/irritated with Louis. He’s also supposed to be a very smart detective so the way that he is sooo slow to pick up on things isn’t endearing or heart-wrenching like in other stories with this trope; it’s just annoying

What the hell is with the writing these days? Stories like this and kiss me liar that not only gloss over rape and abuse, but also romanticize and normalize it are becoming way too prominent & the storylines are abysmal at best. & don’t give me that “don’t like don’t read” bs; 1) people are allowed to criticize media they consume & 2) the first couple was totally fine

Literally cannot believe the amount of people excusing the racism in this story. If it’s “hard to accurately display” the culture, then don’t write about it??? Absolutely not hard to understand. & you people excusing the racism and speaking over those who point it out...hope y’all have this same energy w/o a screen to hide behind so we can see what kind of person you really are
I don’t think people should come at the mc for his internalized homophobia bc that’s a huge thing many lgbt people, esp those in eastern countries, struggle with. No ofc it’s not ok & needs to be worked on, but it’s a valid & realistic struggle (b4 anyone says anything I’m gay & have had firsthand experience w this)
