One Take

Complete | 김쿠키, 애플파이,찰밥 | 2000 released

haha, this one was wild! i absolutely loved it. since it’s been a couple of months since i completed this manhwa, i’m a bit foggy on the details. however, i do recall having this sense of appreciation for the ending as it approached—simply because hyun-je’s ‘core’ didn’t do a 180 degree turnaround like MLs like him often do, but instead we got to watch him mature and gain insight about himself (and understand the consequences of his actions) as the story progresses. i really liked that part! made the story somewhat more realistic. one can’t expect people to change, because they won’t. and, in all honesty, they CAN’T. we are who we are, and he is who he is! we just gotta learn how to tolerate, appreciate and love people for who they really are—flaws and all. but still, i believe he learned how to be (somewhat) considerate towards seung-min and a bit more respectful of his boundaries as well. at least to some degree, i think… if my memory serves me correctly, that is. (lol.) as complex as his character was, i still thought it made sense overall and that they both got a decent ending—a ‘work in progress’ ending, i guess? or maybe an ‘open ending’ would be the preferable term. whatever. i actually kinda liked seung-min as well, though! i found his character surprisingly relatable, honestly. loved watching these guys grow closer together—and apart, i guess… (whenever the occasion might’ve called for it.) and even though they had… ‘some’ toxic moments, i still liked that they managed to reach some sort of middle-ground eventually. sheesh... at least they both seemed to be happy by the end of the day!!! as a reader, that’s all that really matters, anyway. just because i wouldn’t necessarily want to be in a relationship like theirs personally, it doesn’t mean everyone else feel the same. it doesn’t mean someone else can’t be happy ‘their’ way. it’s not MY life, after all. heh. #YOLO but anyway!!! it’s a shame i can’t really recall as much of this manhwa as i would’ve liked. ughhh. guess you can’t have everything. and even though the story’s technically marked ‘complete’, i’m still hoping for a couple more bonus chapters to wrap things up at some point!!! that’d be great. loved those vacay chaps. ^^

I Was Born As The Demon Lord's Daughter

Ongoing | Yeul,Eunmin,Garamgee,Inballo | 2019 released

i should probably be saying something a lot more significant in regards to the story as a whole, but… i really miss daddy’s long, silky hair. ;-; this is an awesome story, though! and things have really been ‘picking up’ lately, lol. i’m excited for this upcoming season!!! (whichever number it might be, i’ve lost track.) the only downside to this story, at least for me personally, is the same, generic look for every single character. literally all of them have practically identical faces. and if that’s not enough, they all have similar hairstyles, too. it’s been somewhat easy to remember (and place) the most frequently appearing characters’ faces and such, but given that there are SOOOO many side characters and names to remember, most of them are starting to look the same to me now. i can’t even recall anyone’s names other rin, ren, erin, rei and daddy karavan. (i’m not sure i even got those right…?) anyway, that’s about it. i hope something big’ll happen soon; things are starting to become tedious. i want some action!!! or at least some character development, if nothing else.

such a sweet couple. i’ve read this twice (doubt i’ll reread again), so the author must’ve done something right.

It's Not Like That (Gangto)

Complete | Gangto / Lime | 2000 released

Wholesome as hell, lol. It was ridiculously awkward back in the day, too… I remember having quiiite a few anxiety attacks caused by all the second hand embarrassment, haha. Still, I’m low-key a masochist, so things like that keep me engaged and committed for sure. The story ended up being somewhat shorter than I’d originally hoped for, but that’s alright! It was a fair conclusion nonetheless. I’ll be looking forward to the upcoming side stories, though! I have no idea what these few bonus chapters will be about, bull it’ll be nice either way.

Suddenly Became a Princess One Day

Complete | Plutus,Spoon , 스푼 | 2018 released

wooow... that was one beautiful story. first of all, i LOVED our two main characters—(and yes, i’m referring to daddy dearest)—whenever they spent time together. their relationship was borderlining on sheer PURITY, man. the care and loyalty they felt for each other by the time we’d reached the end of the story… it was so sweet, and even though their emotional journey might’ve been an agonizingly slow process at times, they eventually found solace in each other and grew into a true family. it was amazing to see. personality wise, i’d say they had originality and complexity and intelligence and elegance… and a whole bunch of other nice things, lol. athanasia and claude (and lucas as well, though, not gonna lie) must belong to a superior species of humanity or something, seriously. waaaack. (ugh, don’t mind meeee.) anyway!!! for whatever my opinion(s) might be worth, i also really enjoyed the pacing of this! it didn’t feel rushed or forced or ‘too slow’ or anything of the like at all to me. it had pretty excellent timing, i thought. an overall nice development and a subtle (yet progressive) layout. not a whole lot of the stereotypical ‘isekai drama’ happened in this manhwa—which was refreshing and something i personally appreciated! however, despite the lack of ‘events’, so to speak, i never lost interest. i’m actually quite happy about the fact that it was more focused on the emotional developments and the growing relationships between the characters (and similar aspects) instead of a more clear, progressive plot; like an obvious revenge trope or perhaps an all-consuming yearning for wealth or power. honestly, i’d like to say it was more lighthearted in that regard… but that’s definitely not the right word for it—especially since it became surprisingly heavy at times, and it felt consistently (and emotionally) intricate to me as well. i don’t know that expression makes sense to anyone else, but i can’t really find a more befitting word as of right now, sheesh. perhaps others would say that’s an overestimation, but i really did grow attached to these guys… and i for sure sobbed on at least one or more occasions, which is quite unlike my usual character when it comes to this genre. i don’t feel i would’ve done that unless the emotional buildup was there and felt authentic. since it was mostly centered around athanasia, claude and their slow-changing dynamic, the author was clearly able to focus on their father-daughter relationship a lot… and i think that shone through in the end. perhaps it shouldn’t have been all that surprising, after all. aaaand, despite the general lack of ‘events’, as i so nicely put it earlier, i still made sure to read every single update as soon as i saw one was available. to be fair, i suspect i might’ve ended up feeling quite bored with this if i hadn’t found the characters as interesting and likable as i did… but i obviously wasn’t, in any way, disappointed or frustrated with the final outcome! well, i suppose i could be biased… but that’s why you’re here reading this review, correct? (heh.) i might even come to reread this one day—simply because, once again, i loved this father-daughter duo and their slowly (but sweetly) progressing relationship. but hey, let’s not forget about my guy lucas!!! i’m actually quite fond of that one as well, lol. either way, i feel pretty content with the final conclusion we got, too! i think it was a smart way to create a (sort of) open ending. i’m sure plenty others would disagree with me, though… but who cares about themmm!!! although, despite of what i literally just said two seconds ago, i’ll still be looking forward to the upcoming side stories! i just hope they won’t leave us with more questions than answers. but you never know! doubt i’ll be unhappy about it, whatever it might be about. in any case: gorgeous, enthralling writing. otherworldly, ethereal-looking art. excellent, believable character development. perfect, balanced pacing… overall, i’ve absolutely ADORED this slow-paced, wholesome father-daughter relationship of theirs. genuinely—i even felt so touched that i actually SOBBED. i mean, what more can i say? 100% worth reading the whole thing, and i’d do it again. honestly, i probably will… and soon, too. #noregrets <3
