Kill the Hero
edit #4: i’m adding this way up here because i’ve really changed my mind since the beginning. to put it bluntly, i simply don’t wish for my earlier notes to put anybody off this story, lol. i LOVE this. i just finished chapter 82 and i’m pretty damn obsessed at this point. it keeps growing on me the more i read! anyway, just wanted to add this real quick. this review of mine really did a 180 from back in the day when i just started reading, haha. but the show must go on!!! i’m struggling to figure out exactly what this plot is supposed to be. i was hoping for something similar to solo leveling in both plot and quality, but i guess i shouldn’t have had such high expectations. (solo leveling is clearly SUPERIOR. in everything. lesson learned.) it just seems like homeboy’s on a vendetta to kill… uhm, everyone?? although i’m not even sure about that at this point. am i missing something crucial here??? i can’t seem to figure him out. i barely know what his personality’s like, nor what his actual intentions are. there’s so little depth at this point!!! i’m yearning for some amazing buildups and climaxes, but it doesn’t seem as though i’ll get much of either. the fights are all one-dimensional and anticlimactic as hell. i swear to f***, if this shit continues like this… i’ll be suing a bitch. anyway, i’ll stick around for a bit and see how things unfold. i’m only on chapter 30, after all. i’m hoping for some serious character growth and ‘skills’ which will be developed gradually and realistically over time; not some shallow rewarding system where he gains skills and items without having to do anything. it seems as though he does very little to earn the rewards he ends up getting right now. this shit is all over the place, lol. it seems as though this is merely a poorly executed attempt at a solo leveling remake. no one can beat, replace or rival sung jinwoo or his natural abilities. (CLEARLY.) well, not in this genre, at least. i suppose i should’ve figured that much beforehand, lol. i’m yet to come across one that can match SL in every aspect, and i’ve read and familiarized myself with quite a few comics within this genre at this point. i really feel like ranting about how great and complex and wonderful and captivating solo leveling is compared to everything else i’ve read up until now (which is quite a bit), but i’ll try to refrain. and even though i know one shouldn’t compare two different stories made by two different authors, i can’t help it in this case. there are way too many ‘attempted’ similarities between the two to ignore. siiigh… if you’re gonna try your hand at creating a new story based on (and clearly inspired by) an already loved and well-received novel and comic, at least make sure it’s worthwhile and not a cheap knockoff. it’s a shame, really. i can only hope that things’ll get better from here. i won’t hold my breath, though. edit: just started chapter 50 and i’m happy to announce that things are starting to get better and a lot more cohesive in the process! i think i’m starting to make sense of most things, but there are still a few question marks left. i’m uncertain about his motives and which ‘side’ he’s on still. i’ll keep reading! things are finally starting to become exciting. i’m starting to look forward to the next chapter as soon as i finish one! that’s a great sign in my book. edit #2: this man is so fucking sly. sheesh… and an excellent strategist at that. you go, sir!! fucking hell, i can’t decide whether i should admire him or despise him. perhaps i should settle with a little bit of both. the best of both worlds, aye? this’ll be fun. ^^ edit #3: don’t know how, when or why, but this has somehow become one of those updates i anticipate and look forward to the most. things have really gotten a lot better. can’t wait to see what’s in store for these guys! i take back most of the things i said in the beginning. i’m loving this!
Return of the Frozen Player
sighhh, my favorite genre. <33 and this is amazing, as expected! i’m now fully caught up, and i really can’t wait for season two. i have high expectations for the future!
Dungeon Reset
this is way funnier than i thought it’d be. hahaha
Skeleton Soldier (Skeleton Soldier Couldn't Protect the Dungeon)
Seoul Station's Necromancer
bro… the more i read, the better it gets!!! unsurprisingly, it’s quite similar to the druid of seoul station—which is another story i love by this creator. anyway, just dropped by to say that i’m thoroughly enjoying the story. i’m excited for the future of this manhwa! this whole damn genre in general is fucking booomb, yo. who doesn’t love a kickass MC with unique abilities and a nonchalant personality? ;)
Limit Breaker
broooo... this guy is next level OP, bro!!! (isn’t he basically a god at this point?) but ohhh, man. i love this already. have no idea what more to expect from this plot-wise for season two, though! since his stats have literally been maxed out since episode one or something, and most of the “important” arcs had their closure in season one. maybe season two will be more about his family, hmm? guess we’ll see. ;) what’s the manhwa really about if not real-life experiences and personal growth, hmm? i’ve been feeling thoroughly entertained, at all times, especially close to the end of season one. the power-trips had me in full-body SHIVERSSSS. super excited to see where this goes!!!
The tutorial tower of the advanced player
bro, this is HYSTERICALLY funny. i literally can’t stop wheezing when it comes to this guy, lmfao. what an icon. i love his personality, too!!! and i 100% adore this manhwa. can’t wait to see what’s in store for us with this one! edit: 80 chapters in and i’m still obsessed!!! edit #2: yeaaaah, i’ve basically been binging this nonstop since i first started out and I. AM. THOROUGHLY. HOOKED. i haven’t been taking as many notes as i would’ve liked, but i’ve low-key been hesitating to even take small breaks. it’s so fucking funny—i can’t even. literally CANNOT. it's definitely among the funnier manhwas i’ve read within this genre thus far! i now have quite high expectations for the future, too. i’m truly stoked about this, seriously. can’t WAIT to see what this guy cooks up… he’s a fucking legend, lololol. i probably should’ve found him annoying at some point, but i’ve felt nothing but excitement and admiration for this guy since the beginning. our boy’s pretty damn badass, y’all. such a boss. love the side characters, too!!! them creativity levels are peaking, fo shoooo. (this is available on webtoon for free, by the way!!! head over there and support the creator.)
One Hit Teacher, Master Baek
this is most definitely a new favorite! such a hidden gem, my god. i absolutely LOVE everything about this!!! and our boy’s incredibly freakin’ likable and admirable and i’m so excited for this manhwa it’s freakin’ INSANE. 10/10 would 100% recommend. P.S. ahhh, how i’ve missed these power-trippy stories. <33 thank you, all you amazing authors!!! #blessed
