A Kind Goblin's Bird

Webtoon where a girl who's abused by her parents gets discovered by a man in a goblin mask. Art is quite good, but I am not too fond of the plot right now. It doesn't make sense why the prince would take interest in her, and help her out of her current situation. We'll have to see if it gets better, but I feel like the art is wasted on this bad story so far. Update: Lore is utter nonsense about twins and goblins, sort of like changelings but slightly different. Each chapter is a waste of time to read. Just the two main characters being sickly lovey-dovey to each other, and nothing else happening. Update #2: Well, that escalated quickly in the end. Made no sense, and characters didn't earn their happy ending.

This manga is funny, it attempts to subvert isekai tropes in a unique way. The female lead died from overwork, and reincarnated inside a coffin, and it turns out everyone in this new world can use magic, including her husband, the king. The king immediately figures out that she's been isekai'd to his world and threatens her, when suddenly, the ghost of the body she's in also appears and they fight. LOL. Hoping for more goodness soon, can't wait to see what they come up with next.

Cultivation webtoon with weapon souls, the male lead wants the weakest soul to achieve the perfect martial arts technique. There's a girl who likes him but when she sees that he's obtained the weakest weapon soul, rejects him because she only likes strong people. Basically don't judge people by their apparent strength. The art is not bad, and translation is understandable, unlike other cultivation webtoons. Interested to see more. I don't really like the male lead though, he's as off-putting just like all the other leads in cultivation webtoons.

Brother is sorta in love with his adopted sister, but actually she's the witch responsible for killing his mother six years ago. She disappears from her life after getting shot by his father, and now he's been eaten by a black blob. Very fast-paced for the first two chapters, not quite sure how I feel about it at the moment. I'll adjust rating accordingly as more chapters come out. Right now, I'm lukewarm towards the overall setup and presentation of the plot and characters.

Heartless

Pretty dark fare, which is to be expected from the mangaka who also wrote Feeding Lamb. I liked this one better, but it still had issues with pacing and plot development. There's a lot going on and it's difficult to get to know the characters. I didn't really like any of them, like Manuel was supposed to be the sympathetic one, yet I felt he was too passive. It didn't follow him entirely either, it also followed Patrick, whose story was really weird and complicated. In the end, no one was really punished for their actions, in terms of the main four characters... Everyone else died horrible deaths though. It's a lot of gore and rape and all kinds of horrible things, but it was mostly shock value and didn't add much to the overall story, so ultimately, this gets 1 star from me.

The art is not good, it uses blurry and faded lines which make it look washed out in a bad way. The proportions of body to head look wrong. Story is about a vampire raising a werewolf child, but plot twist is that the vampire killed his father. It looks unpromising. I would have been more interested to know how the vampire raised the kid, but nope, it skips straight to young adulthood so the BL can happen. Bleh. Not very inspiring to say the least. Also makes no sense he doesn't recall his father's killer's face.

A Sword Master Childhood Friend Power Harassed Me Harshly, So I Broke Off Our Relationship And Make A Fresh Start At The Frontier As A Magic Swordsman.

The male lead broke off his relationship with his girlfriend, who kept verbally abusing him because she's stronger than he is, and he decides to start over from the beginning. It doesn't really make sense why he'd need to do that since apparently he's a really strong adventurer himself. If he really wanted to get away from her, he should start a different lifestyle, not go back to the same exact path he had been on. It would be another thing if he had been weak and wanted to prove himself to her (or himself) that he's not weak trash. But no, he's already strong, has an insane level of magic to make the strongest mage faint, and was already the top level in adventuring. Yeah, this setup is lazy and poorly executed. Art is average for manga. There's a really weird disconnect from Chapter 1 and 2, it seems it's the present in the first, then skips to the past without explanation in the second chapter.

Dam of the Forest

Dam seems to be immortal and has the power to make things grow quickly, including plants and humans. I'm not sure how his power works or if he can control it. It's unclear how much time has passed since Dam was in school and discovered his dark gift. Everyone around him grows old and dies, and he's lost connection with the human world. I'm not too enthralled with the story just yet, since it's so early, but it doesn't really make me want to read more, like I want to know what happens next. It might be because the author chose to make Dam the main character, and since he's so complacent and apathetic, it transmits to the reader as well. The storyteller's voice is super important! Anyway, the art is very simple and not that pleasing to look at. Overall, a below average webtoon.

The female lead isekai'd to the world of a strategy game, where she's the leader of a nation of spider monsters. This manga reminds me of another isekai fantasy strategy manga called "Isekai Apocalypse MYNOGHRA ~The conquest of the world starts with the civilization of ruin~" except the other one has a male lead. I enjoy this one more since I love strong female leads, and she's pretty promising so far. Besides it's only a strategy game when you have lots of units, which is what she has (the other manga he only has one unit). She's slowly becoming more cruel and vicious, but you still want to root for her, so that's good writing. The art was not so good, but the recent chapters look better and better. Hoping for it to pick up some more, and I may change the star rating.

Chronicles of Ling Yan

The art for this full color manhua is great, the coloring is bold like in Western comics but retains the style of a Chinese martial arts manhua. The story is non-existent for now, due to the limited amount of chapters available, it's mostly a lot of fighting, which is drawn really well in an understandable manner. I think the male lead is too unruly like typical shounen manga heroes, I'd rather read this with his elder brother as the protagonist, since he seems more calm and rational. Translation is great, which is surprising since lots of Chinese webtoons and manhua are poorly translated. Hoping to see improvement in the future chapters in terms of story and characters.
