The Way That Knight Lives As a Lady
It's good mostly, the ml is cute as hell, and i do like MC, but there's some disappointing elements. She was knight and now she seems to have completely given up. We never see her train except to walk around a bit, we don't see her practice with the sword which she could absolutely do in secrecy if she so chose. She's a seasoned soldier but people are constantly able to sneak up on her and it does break the illusion a lot. I was all set for her to meet up with her previous life buddies and sneakily find ways through strategy and subterfuge to get her revenge, but instead she acts like any office worker that recently got the isekai treatment. She was a commander, but appears to know fuck all about strategy or intelligence gathering, so I kinda started doubting her abilities as a knight commander. I wanted more little victories and plans and instead got a floundering mc who doesn't seem to have any sort of plan. It's a shame, she got nerfed the point where the author gave the ml the special power of always showing up to save the day at the right time. Also her new father dotes on her so much, there's no way she couldn't have talked him into all the sword fighting and horse riding lessons she could ever want. There's a lot to like (art, characters, some of the mystery) and a lot I don't like. So far nothing about the plot justifies needing to be the reincarnation of a seasoned commander knight for the plot to function. She could have been the daughter of a stable hand or something. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Return of the Flowery Mountain Sect
This is a standard reincarnation story with a male protagonist that practices martial arts, but also pretty interesting as what usually happens is MC is strong af and then fights a series of opponents while he gets stronger and stronger, getting the attention of very strong opponents and shit. The difference in this story, is the fact it actually has a heavy focus on restoring the sect MC is part of to it's former glory, which means it's not enough for him to just get stronger and beat people up, but the other people in the sect have to get stronger and overcome their own obstacles too. I like this aspect, although admittedly we don't get that much of it in the first season, but it's something MC is shown to think about a lot. Towards the end of season 1 the sect leader bows to MC and I burst into tears over it, even though it was just a bow. The author is good at getting you emotionally invested in the story and the characters. Everyone seems to have their flaws and I love every single one of them. The comedy is good, and I don't find it obnoxious, but that's a more subjective topic so take that into account. MC's OPness can seem out of place when juxtaposed to the failures of the supporting cast, but I don't find it quite enough to be too much of a problem for me. I can see however, how that could rub some readers the wrong way. There is one female character so far. She doesn't seem to be a love interest though, and she's not written to be really annoying either. She doesn't exhibit much of a personality as she kind of acts like those stoic emotionless emo boys, but I find it mysterious rather than annoying. She also doesn't fall for this oddly mature 10 year old, which is always a plus. ALSO she, as a martial arts warrior (not a seductress black widow), wears her clothing sensibly! She's not there for fanservice, ✧٩(ˊᗜˋ*)و✧ which is amazing. In fact we get no full on nude people, although the guys do get shirtless pretty often. That too doesn't seem to be done for fanservice, which is also kind of refreshing. Also, also no harem shenanigans, so that's great too. A good read and I do recommend giving this a go! Good stuff. ^_^
I am the Precious Daughter of the Greatest Villain in the Fantasy World
This a cute and sweet little story. The art is good and the translation for the most part is on point, except after chapter.. 75? There's translations by different people so the names change and it can get confusing. But the ppl who translated chapter 76, and 77 are bad. Anyone reading can tell from context that a character is referring to someone else, but for some reason it's translated as 'I' and the sentence structure is bad. Overall bad enough to ruin the story. It sucks. The story itself is pretty much what you would expect from the title. Cute little daughter is cute, charms the whole sect, and learns martial arts while having adventures. I like that the reincarnation happens from birth, so the main character isn't just replacing the original in the middle of the story. I just got done reading a reincarnation story about a family that's real loving but unaware that the original person is dead/gone and the person they're loving on is someone else. It's not a bad thing, and gives the story some good angst, except that in most stories it's never addressed properly. The characters are likeable and some of the plot is actually predictable, and sometimes the adults come off as being a bit dumbed down so that MC can shine. There's also a love triangle thing with 2 guys falling for MC and it's slightly annoying, but not too bad. Except when one tries to get the other killed and it's resolved a little too easily. Character development for the most part is good, and there's some pretty dark stuff in there too. Stuff to like stuff to not like, but in the end I would recomend reading the story, well unless only bad translations get uploaded in the future. It's pointless it if the translation is ass.
Suddenly Became a Princess One Day
This is the story of an orphaned girl getting reincarnated as a princess from a novel she read. The princess was secluded in a palace and then eventually killed by the king, MC obviously wants to avoid that and so tries to do so making use of all the stuff she can remember from the novel. The art is good, the characters- well mainly MC and the king are interesting and the mystery that slowly reveals itself is pretty interesting. It's also legible! Whoever the translators are/were knew at least what they were doing in regards to the english language, which is always a plus. The King/father is legit terrible, and kind of gets better little by little, but doesn't reeeaaally do much to actually redeem himself. Still the father-daughter relationship is the heart and soul of this story, and I cannot help but like the development. After binging through it for a day I stopped and the next day when I came back I found there were a number of things that ended up bothering me and that also I don't actually care about anyone but Athy (MC) and by extension her dad, the rest of the characters are just... kind of there. There's romance and love triangles and hoo boy, is the love triangle kind of problematic. MC is a grown ass woman in the body of a baby and then a little kid and then pre-teen. She's 14 at the point where I got to, and like... she has some sort of crush on the white haired kid? He's like 16(?) at that point but she's thought of him as hot before too and I'm like ??? Excuse me ma'am? Are you a grown ass adult perving on a child??? Wtf?? The other guy is some kind of immortal wizard, he's really old, and it's better 'cause MC is an adult and so is he. I wouldn't say we've been given any especially clear indication who she ends up with, though i really really hope it's with the wizard rather than the child. ⚆ᗝ⚆ I found it annoying when MC comes across someone whom she could probably talk to about her reincarnation, but somehow doesn't realize/understand/want to and continues to hide the fact despite this person making direct reference to how old she "actually" is and being pretty trust worthy. In other stories characters hide who they are because they usually get reincarnated into the body after the original has been around for some amount of time, but here there's no reason why she needs to hide it. No reason not to just go "Oh! You know I come from a different dimension? Neat!" There's a few other things that seem pretty obvious and MC comes across as a little stupid, but otherwise it's not bad. Would recommend giving this a read, but also keep in mind some of these relationships are kinda fucked up.
Marriage of Convenience
This is ok, good even, but just not for me in the end. It was interesting enough to get me to read more than 50 chapters so I understand why it's highly rated. There are however quite a few things that just didn't sit well with me. I don't mind age gaps too much as long as the people in question are consenting adults and stuff, so I'd leave that aside. Even though I can understand some people just nope-ing out of a story where an adult marries a 9 year old girl (though they don't have sex till like a decade later). The main couple start off pretty estranged, so I don't think anyone can *really* make a case for any grooming on MLs part. Oh and apparently there's like 1 chapter with smut in it? There may be more later I don't know about, but it was fine. Not even that explicit to be honest. So the story is about reincarnation or sort of time travel, girl dies and then wakes up and she's suddenly 18 again. Bianca has gone through a lot of emotional abuse (alot of it seemingly not purposely inflicted) and then later on (in her first life) she ends up destitute and homeless and dies of sickness. When Bianca reincranates, she does not feel like a jaded world weary woman. She feels like she's mentally also 18 again, and acts like it. Some comments were saying how they liked how straightforward Bianca is and how it doesn't take 100 chapters for them to confess and there aren't any annoying misunderstandings. I don't know what story those people read, but it wasn't this one. The main couple are constantly misunderstanding each other, it gets better around chapter 50 or so, but it's the same as many other stories. Bianca turns out to be an extremely forgiving person, and I kind of wanted some more drama with regards to the neglect she suffered from her dad and brother. She's already lived a life and died, and a few tears are enough to fix that particular issue completely? They sold her to this older dude (can't say old cause I can't even figure how big their age gap even is. It feels like 5 years, but apparently is supposed to be more?) and then never spoke to her again. Not one letter or visit. Nothing. I also expected more bitterness directed at Zacheria, or whatever his name was. At least when they fought, but Bianca backs down and away with all the confidence of an 18 year old. And don't get me wrong, it does also make sense, but I was disappointed she wasn't more combative. At the beginning of the story, Bianca decides she needs to get pregnant as quickly as possible and her attempts start bold and then quickly peter out, which again, understandable, but also such a shame! It would have been hilarious if the author had decided to run with it just a little bit more! Like fuck, man I didn't want her sexually assaulting him, but it would have been fun for her to be more active in her persuit. She's tiny and he's a behemoth and the idea of him deflecting her advances would have been funny as fuck! Especially as he starts the story already having feelings for her! I guess in the end what I had hoped to get was Megara from Disney's Hercules and what I got was Bianca, who isn't a bad protagonist, but just wasn't what I was hoping for. Such a shame. The villains are... well pretty much all in love with her, which is fine. Except one, but he's pretty uninteresting so far. I'll be honest I kind of started rooting for the main antagonist. He didn't feel like a real villain to me, but more a victim lashing out and trying to survive. Frame the story a bit different and he'd be the main character of a reincarnation revenge story. He seems so lonely, and I honestly wished he wasn't the villain. The story hints at bad things he's done in Mc's past life, but honestly it doesn't do a good job of really showing what he's done. Like I'm the person who says being a victim isn't an excuse to be a psycho, but he just doesn't seem like one. Just a hurt person doing his best to get revenge on an uncaring family who appears to shun him for literally no reason other than bloodline purity bullshit. Or maybe what his mom did. It's not explained very well, so I'm just over here hoping he does succeed in his plans. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I’m a Villainess, Can I Die?
Content Warning: This story contains suicide, suicidal thoughts, attempted suicide. Ok, I like this story. I like the characters, I like what it's going for. Girl leads a shit life, her sister dies, and girl looses all reason for being, so she kills herself. She reincarnates and wakes up in another world in another person's body. It's an interesting take, although there are some other stories that have been similar. However this is also a deeply flawed story. Girl's adoptive parents are cartoon characters, the lead up to her first suicide is... lacking. Serious subjects should be handled in series stories, and handled with care. This story, is ambitious, and as I said, I do like it, but it does not handle this subject with care. The characters are not 3 dimensional, Aiden pretty much only lives for Selena. Lucas has more of a personality and a little more interesting, not to mention Selena's family who just have... no personality. Still, I love this story though. Love Aiden, even though Lucas is the one with an actual personality, and I like Selena too. Would recommend this story, with the reminder that it's not all that realistic and understandably is not for everyone. One thing I didn't like SPOILER When Mc meets her sister and learns that Selena was one of her past lives and that she really was Selena all along. I don't like that. It's too neatly solved then. I would rather her sister beg her to live or something else happen, but not Oh look! I was the Selena all along! It just feels trite.
Reincarnation Of The Murim Clan's Former Ranker
This was fine. It's not amazing, but it isn't anywhere near bad, it's good. The plot gets you interested and compels you to keep reading. In a game world, some necromancer dude swallows some kind of ruby and then gets killed. He reincarnates into a different world/time fusing xianxia with the game like world. He still has his system and is able to level up his skills and slowly recover some of his necromancy, and eventually learns martial arts. He fights bad guys. I'd say the combination of xianxia and game-like world elements is this story's selling point. Doesn't seem to be harem, and no love interest has been introduced as of yet. The MC does have that protective plot armor though, so if you really hate that kind of thing, I'd recommend giving this story a miss. Translation is good, no word salad here, which is a relief.
The Heavenly Demon Can’t Live a Normal Life
An old martial artist dies, and wakes up in the body of a young man who is the first born son of a countryside baron. MC uses his knowledge of martial arts to get stronger and be the best there ever was as per usual with these kinds of stories. It's good, I like mc, although it is a tad more violent and perhaps outright immoral than I'm used to. The lives the MC takes are no weight on his conscious even if he was technically in the right. He does not give a shit if you aren't one of his people. The art doesn't match the cover for the first 20 chapters and can lead to readers wondering wtf. The art at the beginning is really not good for the type of story this is, which makes it a relief when the artist is swapped out for someone with a more appropriate style. Although I will say I do feel everyone's a bit too pretty in the new art style, but will take it over what was before. If you like these sorts of stories with over powered Mc's than this should be right up your alley. Translation can vary. But is mostly understandable even if the english isn't perfect.
Clever Cleaning Life Of The Returned Genius Hunter
Trash guy gets murdered, and then goes back ten years with all his skills locked and as a dungeon cleaner. He works to unlock his powers while slowly and unwittingly becoming a better human being. It's alright, but could be better if the scanlation group Night scans, was better at translating and didn't upload chapters with the pages completely out of order. I dropped cause it's far too much trouble trying to parse out what's going on. Takes you out of the story and ruins the experience. I don't recommend giving this a go cause you'll have to droop it anyway.
The Way to Protect the Female Lead's Older Brother
