Hahaha 'tis so cute. The emperor called her portrait ugly, and she was enraged so she entered the palace dressed as a man to join the application for the official palace painter. Then she drew a hilarious portrait of the emperor and as a joke, the emperor's brother gave her the first place. Hahaha anyway, it was good. 'ti fit for light reading and full of sweetums moments. Interesting. Drama and mystery aside (plus the possible angst and tragedy in the future chapters), the comedy is gold. Plus the art is really pretty. Anyway, last read 32. Went hunting, and she came down with a fever. ---- Spoiler: ML is the King. I kinda expected that. But I kinda also hoped (im the beginning) that this'll stray away from cliche and let the childhood friend/right-hand man get the girl. But it, it became clear to me when grandpa (the fortune teller) told her that they have evil fate ahead of them. But somehow, it was reassuring to know that Shiwon would've given her the world if they did marry. Thus, they'll be happy. If that tragedy didnt happen, then they would've become a happy family and their destinies didnt entwine. Before I read this, I had this thought: why cant second ml get the girl? Or rather, why is the 2nd ml always designed as a 'lesser' character compared to the ML. Like, there's always a flaw in him. Why cant authors write a charismatic and charming 2nd ML, then design their Ml as 'more.' this might not make sense but authors deliberately make the 2nd ML lose chance with the girl. Like, authors design them as the "perfect 2nd ML". Meaning, they're created to create tension, drama, and push the plot forward. And at times they become too perfect, that the audience root for him, the author will design an intervention which will make the 2nd ML less compared to the ML. And I hate it. This manhwa, this has a huge kdrama potential. I mean, story-wise and execution of story-wise, it's on par with those historical kdramas that has good ratings. Plus, I like how the 2nd ML isn't designed to be someone who will just be a side-character. I love Shiwon. I'd prolly continue to read this to watch Shiwon's love story unfold. There are more dramas in the future. Like her stepmom, stepsis, the Queen mother, and the minister chuchuness. But it's a happy ending in the end. Sooo, hang in there. Hwaiting, authors, artists, and scanlators!
