He wears Su Mann’s old watch. - He agreed to a special enrolment at the Academy with free tuition on a generous scholarship. - Ogus Academy was established over 900yrs ago. It has a barrier that surrounds it to separate the demon world from the human world. Each year a certain number of human students are admitted for the demons to better assimilate into human society after they graduate. For demons, each grade at the Academy takes 5yrs. - Academy laws: - Those who refuse to comply will die. - Demons must maintain their human forms. - One is prohibited from attacking a student unless one’s wellbeing is in danger. - PAL is the most effective protection for humans at the Academy. A human partners with a demon who is obligated to protect the human. - Theodore (Theo), a senior student and the pure blood heir of the Bloodeater / Scarlet Blood clan. - Vampires: They don’t age and they don’t die. - They’re the only race that can turn humans into immortals. - One of the Academy founders was from this clan. - Lille is a vampire and the current headmaster. - He knew Yuan’s father. He’s also Theo’s uncle. - Willow / Nan Qiu - He’s a student advisor and a human raised by demons. - Simon / Sicheng Xia - He’s a teacher, Willow’s PAL, and a white snake demon. He also maintains the barriers at the Academy. - Lucian / Yu Fu, a half human and half black fox demon. - He’s been a student for 10yrs. He’s secretly a Guardian at the Academy and frequently undertakes dangerous missions. - One night he was badly injured and ended up in Yuan’s dorm room by mistake. Yuan treated his injuries. - Michael Yu, a weak and clumsy rabbit demon. - Yuan finds out Michael is a psycho serial killer. Michael stabs Yuan in the heart but is stopped by Lucian. Michael was given an illegal drug (GHD, Illusion poison, demon LSD) that made him stronger temporarily. He overdosed on the drug and his body disappears. - Lucian has 3 hearts. To save Yuan’s life, he gives Yuan one of his hearts. Lucian has to keep feeding his essence to Yuan (by kissing mouth or neck etc where arteries are) to keep that heart beating. Lucian becomes Yuan’s PAL. - Yuan has a special scent… - Black fox and vampire blood can heal others? - Black foxes and vampires are the last known demon races that drink human blood to survive? - During the 1000yr War, humans hunted down and killed demons on a large scale. After the war, several high ranking demons established the Academy as a sanctuary for demons. The world of demons had to be hidden from the human world. - Some demon races can't suppress their desire to feed on humans. These demons were black listed and killed if found. - Black foxes were black listed as they were addicted to the life force / blood essence from humans. After 100yrs, the black fox clan became self sufficient through the generations of human servants kept by the clan. They no longer needed to hunt humans and were grey listed for ongoing observation. - Lucian awakened as a black fox when he was 6-7yo. - Demon children can’t revert to their human form yet. - His mother didn’t know his father was a black fox. She went insane after rejecting Lucian. He hates himself for being a black fox and refuses to take blood essence from a human. He never abandoned his humanity after he became a black fox. - Essence can be taken from blood or semen? - Lucian and Yuan visit Yuan’s mother Enid. She owes a large debt to loan sharks who constantly harass her. Lucian beats up the loan sharks and pays off the debt with Lille’s bank card. - One of the loan sharks is a black listed demon. After taking a large dose of GHD, he attacks Lucian and Yuan when they return to the Academy. - After the fight, Lucian is unwell and needs essence to recover. - Lucian refuses to take blood essence from Yuan. He also refuses to take it from a human servant sent by the black fox clan. Yuan insists and Lucian finally relents. - Yuan is the only one to accept Lucian for who he is and to love Lucian unconditionally. - Willow recommends a part-time job to Yuan. - It’s at a gay demon night club. - GHD: a small dose that’s been heavily diluted can give a demon the same sensations as cigarettes or alcohol. Too much and the overwhelming stimulus makes a demon lose control over their mind. They become violent and die. - Theo knew Yuan for 2yrs when they were both children. - Theo didn’t want to turn Yuan into a vampire so Theo erased 8yo Yuan’s memories instead. Theo offers to return Yuan’s memories for a price but Yuan refuses. - Xmas Eve: Lucian’s bday. - Yuan gives a toy fox to Lucian. - Exchange ball: the Academy has 3 branches, each in a different country. They take turns to hold the annual ball. - It’s the only time the barrier is opened to allow people from outside to attend. - Erin, an exchange student and a monarch butterfly demon. - Carol, an exchange student and demon in love with Erin. - Bayern and his older sister Lola are Gu Diao demons. - He makes and distributes GHD. - He also conducts illegal experiments on demons. - The drinks at the ball were spiked with too much GHD and the demons go berserk. Lola temporarily immobilises the headmaster. Bayern kidnaps Yuan to collect his blood. Lucian saves Yuan but Bayern and Lola escape with the blood. - Yuan moves into Lucian's dorm room. - Lucian and Yuan are sent to a remote fishing village to investigate a possible mermaid sighting. Mermaids are thought to be extinct. - Yun was an albino boy who was abandoned by his parents at the village and was adopted by another family. Yun saved a young merman who was injured from a fishing net. Yun named the merman “Snow.” They became close friends. Snow gave one of his scales to Yun. - Xia, Yun’s younger sister, found the scale and showed it to her parents. They sold it for a high price and the villagers went looking for Snow. Yun tried to stop them but Snow was captured and sold to Bayern. After 10yrs of experiments, Snow was discarded. Snow made his way back to the fishing village and found Yun waiting for him. - Snow created an illusionary world for just him and Yun. To have the life force to sustain this mass illusion, Yun helped to lure many villagers and tourists for Snow to feed on. Lucian fights Snow when the merman tries to feed on Yuan. Snow is dying and Yun decides to commit suicide with Snow. - Yuan is now 20yo. - Lucian gives Yuan a blowjob (Ch 79, implied). - Lucian and Yuan have sex for the first time (Ch 80, implied). - Yuan and Lucian visit Enid. - She gives their relationship her blessing. - At the Academy, Yuan overhears Lucian speaking with Simon. Lucian will have a shortened lifespan due to the strain on his 2 remaining hearts to contain his power as a black fox. Simon can create an internal barrier to temporarily strengthen his hearts but Lucian will still only have about 100yrs left. - Yuan visits Theo to ask for his memories back. He wants to do everything he can to become a stronger partner for Lucian. In return, Theo asks Yuan to stay for the night. There is a celebration for the arranged marriage between Theo and Elena, another vampire. - Theo opens the doors to the banquet hall and discovers everyone has collapsed from a gas that’s poisonous to demons. Yuan helps Theo return to his quarters before he succumbs completely to the gas as well. The gas was developed by Bayern. Elena betrayed Theo and released the gas. In exchange Bayern will collect the stricken vampires to use their bones for his experiments. - Theo takes Yuan to a secret passageway for Yuan to escape. Then Theo and Dylan search for Elena… - Dylan was assigned as Theo’s personal servant when Theo was young boy. Dylan is the blood servant of Theo’s father (ie Dylan was turned into a vampire). He has always had an unrequited, forbidden love for Theo. - Theo kills Elena but learns she has killed Theo’s father. All of his father’s blood servants will also die as a result. Theo refuses to let Dylan die and performs a 2nd transformation at great risk to his own life. - The arachnid demons are working with Bayern who wants to capture Lucian for his experiments. They arranged for Lucian to go on a mission near Theo’s estate. Lucian notices something strange about the estate and goes to investigate via a secret passage where he meets Yuan. Lucian is warned by Yuan just in time and avoids a sudden attack from the arachnid demons. - While Lucian is fighting the arachnid demons, Bayern kidnaps Yuan. Lucian fights his way to a huge chamber where the parent arachnid body is incubating, surrounded by a moat of highly toxic blood. - Bayern agreed to help the parent arachnid demon restore their body that was destroyed 1000yrs ago. In exchange the arachnid parent would help revive Yuan’s father. - Yuan’s father Su Mann was a liang (dragon) demon. - Bayern gave the watch to Su Mann. - 100yrs ago Su Mann saved Bayern and Lola who were very young at the time. They hid together while the blacklisted races were being hunted and killed. Su Mann experimented with his own blood to create drugs that would satisfy the conditions for a coexistence treaty instead of the blacklist and extermination. - One day Su Mann collapsed from lack of life force. - Bayern ventured outside and stole blood pouches from a blood donation centre. He was seen by a human and ran away. - Su Mann recovered thanks to the blood but later their hideout was discovered and destroyed. Su Mann distracted their attackers so that Bayern and Lola could escape. They never saw Su Mann again… - Bayern reveals that Yuan is the son of a liang demon. - Bayern had used liang blood in his experiments which is why none of the poisons so far affected Yuan. - Yuan takes a risk and falls into the toxic blood moat in the hope that it’ll awaken his liang powers. His gamble works and he saves Lucian before the arachnid parent can take Lucian's heart to complete its body. - 1000yrs ago the arachnid parent fell pregnant to their human lover. The Council of (Demon) Elders deemed this a sin, and killed the human and the unborn child. The body of the arachnid parent was destroyed and it was enslaved. - The arachnid demons are clones of the parent. They exist to only follow the wishes of their creator. - The arachnid parent starts to reabsorb the clones to maintain its life force in the battle against Yuan and Lucian. The clones rebel and start to free each other from the parent. They decide to live for themselves and not as a mindless collective that dies as mere tools for the parent. - While the parent is distracted by the clones, Lucian and Yuan defeat the parent. Lucian is badly injured and his hearts have sustained irreparable damage. Yuan removes Lucian's 3rd heart from himself and returns it to Lucian. - Bayern and Lola escaped and have gone into hiding. - The poisonous gas also killed the Council of Elders. The Academy headmaster replaces them with his people. - Lucian and Yuan have sex for the first time in the demon forms (Ch 111). - Theo and Dylan survived. - Theo gives a memory stone to Yuan. It contains Yuan’s childhood memories. Lucian watches over Yuan while the memories slowly return in his sleep. - Theo and Yuan used to be inseparable childhood friends. - Lille (the future Academy headmaster) hid Su Mann who was on the run from the Council of Elders. - Lille was asked by Su Mann to protect Yuan and Yuan’s mother in the event of his death. - Lille arranged for Yuan to attend the Academy. - He also orchestrated the events that led to the first meeting between Yuan and Lucian, and deepening their connection. - He turned the attention of Bayern and the arachnid parent to Yuan and Lucian. He used this opportunity to get rid of the Council of Elders. - Lucian receives a letter about his mother who is dying. - Lucian and Yuan visit the black fox estate. - Lucian’s father tells Lucian to do his duty to continue the bloodline by breeding with as many human women as possible. This is because it is unknown which child will awaken as a black fox. To awaken as one is a very rare occurrence. Lucian angrily refuses and says Yuan will be his one and only partner. - Lucian’s mother still doesn’t recognise him. When he awakened as a black fox, she claimed a monster stole her son. Lucian even cut off a fox ear to look more human but she still saw him as a monster. She truly loves and cherishes him in her mind. Lucian blamed himself for her insanity and always carried that pain and guilt. - For Xmas (and Lucian’s bday): - Lucian gets couple rings for himself and Yuan. (Ch 124) Dylan & Theo: - Dylan doesn’t believe he’s worthy of Theo’s love. - Theo decides to be carefree and travel with Dylan. - Theo gives away his authority over the entire vampire clan to Lille, who is also the head of the Council of Elders. - Lille resigns as the Academy headmaster. - Dylan and Theo make love (Ch 130).
