It's very heartbroken to see Hira go through life so anxiously and has a warped views of himself and the world around him. T^T I know how hard it is to break out of that cycle (especially doing it by yourself).. if I didn't meet a certain group of ppl or came across certain books, I'd probably end up in a similar situation... I hope he can learn to love himself more.. As for Kiyoi, it might seem like he has it all together and full of himself, but he reminds me of someone who's putting up a defense. Either because it's hard for him to grasp social interactions or because he's traumatised by sth.. Honestly, I think he did help Hira in his own way while also protecting himself.

This makes him interesting to Tsuda, who isn't interested in much of anything, let alone anyone. -------- Anyway I really like how the story is told, using white space and non speech dialogues.
