Naruse Akira to Ikkai Ya Retara Ore wa Mou Shinde mo Ii

Complete | Komo | 2018 released

3.5, I’ll be honest. I will NOT lie. The smut scenes are very well drawn, the style is a sparkly work of art, and I think the main couple can be cute at times. But I feel pure irritation when Akira continued to mislead, bully, and technically grape Hotaru. Hotaru felt pain when Akira felt jealousy and took it out on him, not cool. I don’t care of Hotaru is okay with it, it doesn’t make it okay, and that makes me sad because I know that Akira has a real love for him and genuinely wants to make him happy. I just wish the plots of these BLs could assent past the weak, helpless, basically rug of a person trope that allows these Ukes to get so easily pushed around. There’s flaws in both characters that I feel like could be developed better and more drawn out. Hotaru matures to stand for himself, Akira lives with guilt for his actions and makes up for it somehow with them both learning to communicate and express better. The typical issues that would upgrade a manga but never is present. But the uploader is a gem <3 best meme annotations ever.

Tategami ni Airabuyuu

Ongoing | Kujirada hiroto | 2019 released

5.0, this ones pretty cute in the end when they start bonding based on comparability fight but also based on when you care for someone so much you give a special type of TLC to them. It’s really cute. I wish there were more chapters though, gotta agree with others, I especially would’ve loved if the volumes continued to them being more mature in college etc. with less fighting and more calm couple growth. I could reread again, just wish there were more sappy moments without a swollen face or the mentions of beating someone to a pulp.

Tsugai ni Narenai!

Ongoing | Kosaka Tsumugi | 2018 released

2.0, the art has potential but this plot is majorly r@pe. It’s deceiving since their first time is led by the uke but it’s still dubiously consenting for the seme but it gives you the illusion that all was well, except for the fact that the transpiring coitus are all questionable. One could point out the obvious which is that the seme is manipulative and the uke is naively blinded by “love” and the type to be swept away or make excuses with rose tinted shades, major downside to their dynamic. And in the end it’s undeniable that the Seme did not make an effort to reveal the truth and communicate his since gender nor his true intentions in a reliable mature way, thus making for a sloppy ending where he’s accepted despite not facing consequences for his actions (all b/c the Uke is so accepting after being gr@ped for some reason). Disappointing honestly.

4.8, honestly I could give this full marks because there was minimal dubious consent and NO grapes, but… middle chapters felt a bit repetitive to me. Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s necessary to properly watch the development of each characters and their processing. I just found myself wondering how many more chapters there’d be before actual outward development would occur which indicates I felt there was some drag. In that sense, I wish there were more chapters that covered the aftermath of their union as thoroughly as the pre-union. In addition, I tend to be more resistant to Semes that tease and taunt their Uke, it makes their soft loving union feel undeserving for them but in this sense they showed a genuine side of the Seme that made this more bearable. Although this inspired me to make a plot/storyline version of this wherein the Uke (class president) truly rejects the Seme, but wants to remain genuine friends into adulthood, wherein the Seme continues to have feelings for him until he meets someone else and follows the Seme from there. (A familiar plot line to vets of the genre but from the Seme POV which is a bit unique). I could reread.

Caramel Honey

Complete | Takuhei | 2016 released

4.9, I liked that for the most part there was consent (except the kisses which mostly were non consensual) but ngl the dialogue or series of events were hard to grasp. The Seme always seems to be unable to express his words which (to be fair) is true to his character (based on the older brother), but I was hoping for a bit more at the very least for the confession scene. But an attempt was indeed made. Overall though it’s cute that he always simply wanted to protect the Uke. I have some annoyance with the Uke for simply saying sorry repetitively and for never explaining what explicitly his predisposition does until he’s consoled by the older brother, could’ve been explained previously rather than being simply mentioned repeatedly. The side couple was an interesting back story. I could reread.

Jiraikei Kareshi Suzu-kun

Ongoing | kasai chiaki | 2019 released

2.0, as to why over 60% of readers who’ve rated have rated it at 5 is beyond me, 2 chapters in and the Seme is already unbearable. I have a tendency to be irritated at Ukes that are complete rugs, no fight back, nothing, but I’ll give some credit on the fact that he does try to voice his opinions and resist. With that said, the Seme is even more discerning because of this, he chooses to push himself onto the Uke like most red flag tops of this genre and continues to disregard the Ukes wishes yet I’m supposed to think it’s cute that the Uke begins developing feelings for the Seme because he’s using a technique of making the Uke think about him constantly? That’s not cute. The art has so much promise but this plot is not it. Not rereading.

Sutenaide My Hero

Complete | himoda q | 2017 released

3.0, I give one star for creativity. Having a Seme Omega and a Uke Alpha is original and unique. I give another star for art style, very beautiful. And I give a final star for its potential. Unfortunately, I still detest plots that have a primary climax of r@pe. Was it a nice change to see the dynamics shift? Yes but what’s the difference between this and just another average omegaverse manga if they both are “r@ped but forgiven” tropes. I stopped at Chapter 5 because of this awful development, the whole forgiveness redemption plot doesn’t even make sense, what does being sweet when he was younger have to do with his CONSCIOUS choice to force the Uke Alpha into something with NO consent. My mentally unwell readers, I couldn’t even finish reading it, anything after chapter 5 is unnecessary. I don’t need to read more “happy” ever after side stories with a toxic dynamic couple lmao. Not rereading again. Jail bruh.

Ookami-sama no Koiwazurai

Complete | Tobi washio | 2019 released

5.0, it’s not excelling simply because a lot of the physical affection is forced upon and therefore not consensual but I’ll not put a SA tag since it’s outlined in chapters that it’s an instinctive trait of the wolf breeds. I really love this manga overall though, first off the art was top tier and I knew it would be based off the first panel. Second of all, the plot is really sweet getting down to it, the calm natured human friend of a susceptible hybrid breed protecting his susceptible friend from danger and finding love in the process by changing said danger into a lover is actually quite wholesome. Plus the development felt perfectly sequential, it wasn’t rushed or over complicated, the human did research and took his time to learn his feelings alongside the reader until it came to a head with a communicative understanding between the two lovers. Def would reread again.

Kono Ore Ga Omae Nanka Suki Na Wakenai

Complete | ogawa chise | 2012 released

2.0, the art is fine I suppose, it’s unquestionably original but it seems inconsistent at times like an initial piece. I think the affection scenes are nice and cute if I pretend it’s not the main couple, because unfortunately a dynamic I loathe is an extremely juvenile miscommunication plot and a Uke thats nothing more than a pretty face (with an IQ of single digit of course). And I already saw the misunderstanding a mile away, it wasn’t necessary for 5 full chapters of it only for it to end with the confirmation I saw coming. It’s a bit repetitive in that aspect, the Uke “tried to seek revenge” and failed miserably for too long. Similarly, tried to mend things for too long. The Semes an idiot too, doesn’t confront what he wants to say the end during their so called angst period AND he doesn’t understand that his first love is the Uke. I guess they’re made for eachother that way. Also kiss and touch was not consensual for a majority so. Usually I’d keep my rating low because of SA or r@pe in pair with a toxic plot but I also rate this low for mangas that feel like a waste of time. Won’t reread again.

Saiteina otoko no ude no naka

Complete | Megumi Kitano, 北野仁 | 2000 released

5.2, I really like this one actually despite the abruptness of it all within the first two chapters where they essentially were neighbors with benefits catalyzed by their straight friends/the couple that’s friends with Sora doing a deed next door. I don’t really care for the causality of it all because it many times is non consensual but Sora the Seme really did ask for comfortability and was fairly gentle with hanging out eating together etc. The art is beautiful actually and my favorite feature of this story is despite the run-away/push-away plot, they actually had a sit down conversation before continuing into any intimacy which I feel gives validity to their confessions. In addition, we even got an extra sort of chapter that shows they have support ally friends which was a cherry on top. I’d reread again for surez
